Abbie Cornish was born on August 7, 1982 in Lochinvar, New South Wales. She was the second of the five children. Cornish grew up together with her parents and three brothers in 170 acre farm in the Hunter Valley town of Lonchinvar. At the young age of 13, she began modeling and her very first acting job came when she was only 15 years old on the Australian Broadcasting Commission series called, Children’s Hospital in the year 1997, where she portrayed a quadriplegic.

After reaching the finals for the competition of Dolly Magazine, by the age of 16 Cornish had to deal with her TV acting roles and her studying fit her Higher School Certificate, with the interest of pursuing a career as a veterinarian. In year 1999, Cornish garnered the Australian Film Institute Young Actor’s Award for her acting performance in the ABC TV show of Wildside. She was then offered as role in a feature film called, The Monkey’s Mask.

In year 2004, Abbie Cornish made an appearance in the award-winning film called, Everything Goes, together with the actor Hugo Weaving. Cornish acting performance in the 2004 film of Somersault, she received various awards such as, the Australian Film Institute Award for the Best Actress in a Leading Role and Best breakthrough Performance at the 2005 Miami International Film Festival as well as IF Award and Best Actress at the FCCA. The film of Somersault introduced her to her prominence.

On the other hand, Cornish garnered critical acclaim for her portrayal in the 2006 film called, Candy, which she appeared together with the ate Heath Ledger. She was also included in the casts of the film of A Good Year and in the movie of Elizabeth: The Golden Age. In addition, she also starred in the latest film of Kimberly Peirce entitled, Stop-Loss.  I April 2010, it was said that Cornish was included in the casts of the film adaptation of the book of The Dark Fields entitled, Limitless. The film was directed by the film director Neil Burger, which also includes the star of Robert De Niro. In addition, the film has already released in March 2011.

Abbie Cornish narrated the film Of Zack Snyders called, Sucker Punch, which also starred her together with Emily Browning and more, at San Diego Comic-con International in year 2010. On the other hand, Cornish is set to appear in the upcoming film of Madonna entitled, W.E, which is about Edward VIII as well as Wallis Simpson. It was said that Cornish will be portraying the role of Wally. In addition, the production of the film has already started on July 5 2010 in England and it was said that the film is set to release in Venice this year.

In her personal life, Cornish and the actor Ryan Phillippe began dating in year 2007. The two of them were seen together at the 40th Anniversary party of Calvin Klein, which is held on Cockatoo Island in Sydney Australia. However, it was announced on February 2010 that the couple had ended their relationship.
