Alfred Molina is a British actor, who is most notable for the portrayal in the film of Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Man Who Knew Too Little. He was born on May 24, 1953 in Paddington, London, to Esteban and Giovanna, a waiter and a house-keeper. Molina grew up in a working-class neghbourhood in Notting Hill, which was inhabited by many other immigrant families. He then made a decision to be an actor after seeing Spartacus at the young age of nine. In addition, Molina entered the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
In year 1978, Molina starred together with Leonard Rossiter in the sitcom called, The Losers. He subsequently made his film debut with a small role in the 1981 film entitled, Raider of the Lost Ark, where he portrayed the role of the ill-fated guide of Indiana Jone’s. On the other hand, the big break of Molina came in year 1985, when he starred in the British comedy film of Letter o Brezhnev. He then starred in the 1987 film of Prick Up Your Ears, where he portrayed the role of Kenneth Halliwell.
Molina subsequently starred in the first two series of EL C.I.D. However, he left to focus on his film work. He then appeared in the films of Species ad Dudley Do-Right as well as in the 2000 film of Chocolat. He was also included in the casts of the film of Talk: Not Without My Daughter and in Enchanted April. He then collaborated with Paul Thomas Anderson twice; the first one is in the films of Boogie Nights and Magnolia. In year 2002, Molina earned much fame for his portrayal in the biopic of Frida, which also includes the stars of Salma Hayek and Diego Rivera. On the following year, he appeared as himself together with Steve Coogan in the short film of Coffee and Cigarettes.
In year 2006, Molina appeared in the film adaptation of Shakespeared’s As You Like It, where he portrayed the role of Touchstone. In year 2007, Molina narrated a 17-part of the original audiobook for Audible.com called, the Chopin Manuscript. On April 2010, he opened at Broadway’s John Golden Theater in the role of Mark Rothkoin John Logan’s drama called, Red, which also includes Eddie Redmayne. Also in year 2010, Molina starred together with Dawn French in the six-part BBC sitcom called, Roger & Val Have Just Got In. on the same year, it was announced that he will be joining the casts of the series show of Law & Order: LA as the Deputy District Attorney Morales. Molina has previously appeared as a guest star in a two-part cross over in 2005 in two other Law & Order shows, the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Law & Order : trial by Jury. In addition, Molina is a Patron of the performing arts group called, Theatretrain.
