Amanda Peet is an American actress, who was born on January 11, 1972 New York City, to Penny Peet and Charles Peet, a social worker and a corporate lawyer. Peet’s father was a Quaker while her mother is a Jewish. She entered the Friends Seminary and then the Columbia University, where she finished studied history. She also auditioned for acting teacher named Uta Hagen on the said school and also made a decision to be an actress after she took the Hagen’s School. She then appeared in the Broadway revival of the Clifford Odets called, Awake and Sing, together with the American actor Stephen Lang.
Amanda Peet’s first screen performance was in the TV commercial for Skittles. She also appeared as a guest star in one of the episodes of the TV series show of Law & Order entitled, Hot Pursuit, where she portrayed the role of similar to Patty Hearst. On the other hand, she landed on the big screen with the drama film entitled Animal Room in year 1995, which also includes the stars of Neil Patrick Harris and Matthew Lillard. She then appeared in the American romantic comedy film of One Fine Day, together with George Clooney and Michelle Pfeiffer. On the same year, she earned a small role in the romantic comedy film entitled, She’s the One, alongside Jennifer Aniston and Cameron Diaz.
Amanda Peet appeared in various films such as Origin of the Species and in the film of Southie as well as in the romantic film of Playing by the Heart. On the other hand, she had her first lead role in the 1999 TV series of Jack and Jill, where she portrayed the role of Jack. On the same year, she starred in the fantasy romantic film called, Simply Irresistible, where she portrayed the role of Chris. She was also included in the biographical film called, Isn’t She Great, which also includes Bette Midler and Nathan Lane. On the following year, she had her starring role in the independent film of Whipped, where she portrayed the role of Mia. the film garnered a Young Hollywood Award for the category of Best New Style Maker.
Amanda Peet also appeared in the play called, This is How it Goes. She also starred in the romantic comedy film of A Lot Like Love, which also includes the star of Ashton Kutcher. In year 2006, Peet performed in one of the Broadway production of Neil Simon entitled, Barefoot in the Park. On the following year, she portrayed the role of an attorney in the romantic comedy film of The Ex, which has been released on May 2007. Peet also starred in the 2009 disaster film of 2012, which has been directed by Roland Emmerich. On the following year, she appeared in the comedy drama film of Please Give, which also included the stars of Catherine Keener and Rebecca Hail. She was also included in the film of Gulliver’s Travels, together with Jack Black, Jason Segel and Emily Bmlunt.
