Anna Louise Friel is an English actress, who is most notable for the portrayal of Beth Jordache on the soap called, Borookside. She was born on July 12, 1976 in Rochdale, Greater Manchester, to Julie and Des Friel, a special needs teacher and a former French teacher. Her father, who is an Irish Catholic and a former folk guitarist, was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland and grew up in Donegal, Ireland. In addition, Friel has a brother named Michael, who starred in Hovis TV adverts. Friel entered the Crompton House Church of England High School, in High Crompton, Shaw and Croptom. She also entered the Holy Cross College in Bury. He also showed some passion in acting at the young age and also gained such praises for her work at the local talent shows.
At the young age of 13, Friel was employed for her first acting job in the Channel 4 drama series called G.B.H., wherein she portrayed the role of the daughter of the role portrayed by Michaal Palin. Her portrayal on the said series led her to appear in different British TV shows, which also includes the Emmerdale. In year 1992, Friel was included in the casts of the soap opera of Chanel 4 entitled, Brookside, where she portrayed the role of Beth Jordache. Her portrayal for the said series earned her much fame. On the other hand, she remained on the show for two years. In year 1995, Friel took home the National Television Award for the Most Popular Actress for her portrayal on Brookside.
On the following year, Friel received further controversy appearing in the TV film called, The Tribe by Stephen Poliakoff. In year 2001, Friel made her West End stage debut in London in a fringe production entitled, Lulu. She also appeared together with Ewan McGregor in the 1999 film of Rogue Trader. On the same year, she portrayed the role of Hermia in the film entitled, S Midsummer Night’s Dream, which also includes Christian Bale and Dominic West as well as Calista Flockhart. On the other hand, her TV works includes the short live TV series of The Jury, where she portrayed the role of Attorney Megan Delaney.
In year 2007, Friel portrayed the role of Charlotte ‘Chuck” Charles in the comedy drama series of Pushing Daisies, which also starred Lee Pace. In year 2009, Friel was included in the casts of the film adaptation of the book of breakfast at Tiffany’s. on the following year. she appeared in the thriller film called, The Dark Fields, which is now entitled to Limitless. The film was released on March 2011. In November 2010, Friel appeared together with Ray Winstone, Colin Farell, Keira Knightley and David Thewlis in the British film of London Boulevard. In year 2011, she appeared in one of the episodes of the BBC series show entitled, Come Fly with Me.
