The 28-year-old American actress was born on November 12, 1982 in Brooklyn, New York to Gerald Thomas Hathaway and Kathleen Ann McCauley, a lawyer and an actress. When she was at the young age of six, Hathaway together with her family relocated to Millburn, New Jersey. Hathaway has an older brother named, Michael and a younger brother named Thomas. In addition, she was baptized with the real name of Anne Jacqueline Hathaway and was raised as a Catholic. She had the combination of Irish and French ancestry and with the distant Native American and German roots.

Anne Hathaway’s first ever role in the motion picture was in the Walt Disney 2001 drama film called, The Older Side of Heaven, together with Christopher Gorham. The film has the touch of the biography of John H. Groberg entitled, In the Eye of the Storm. Prior to the production of the said film, Ann Hathaway starred in the comedy film of The Princess Diaries, where she portrayed the roe of Ma Thermopolis together with Julie Andrews. On the other hand, the said film was originally based from the 2000 novel of Meg Cobot.

In year 2002, Ann Hathaway also starred in the City Center Encores Concert production of the Carnival, where she debuted in the New York stage, which garnered her positive reviews for playing the role of Lili. On the other hand, her voice was featured as Red Puckett in the animated comedy film of Hoodwinked in year 2005. The film was originally based on the Little Red Riding Hood tale. On the same year, Hathaway also included in the casts of the comedy film Knocked Up but before the filming started, she turned down the role and immediately replaced by Katherine Heigl. On the other hand, Hathaway appeared in the 2009 comedy film of Bride Wars and proving her voice on The Simpsons, which earned her an Emmy Award in 2010. In addition, Anne Hathaway is set to portray the role of Catwoman in the upcoming film of The Dark Knight Rises.
