Anthony Hopkins is a Welsh actor, who was born on December 31, 1937 in Margam, Port Talbot Wales, to Muriel Ann and Arthur Hopkins, who is a baker. Hopkins found that he would rather immerse in art like painting, and drawing or even playing the piano than to study. In year 1949, his parents insisted him to enter the Jones’ West Monmouth Boys’ School in Pontypool, Wales. He stayed there for five years and then attended the Cowbridge Grammar School in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. He was then influenced and inspired to be an actor by the Welsh citizen Richard Burton, whom he met when he was at the young age of 15. He subsequently attended the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in Cardiff, Wales, where he graduated in year 1957. He spent 2 years of his life in the British Army doing his national service, and then he relocated to London, where he was trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
Anthony Hopkins made his stage debut in the Palace Theater, Swansea in year 1960, with the Swansea Little Theater’s production for Have A Cigarette. In year 1965, he was notices by Sir Laurence Oliver, who asked him to be part of the Royal National Theater. He then became Oliver’s understudy and filled in when Oliver was hit with appendicitis, when they were having their August Strindberg’s production of The Dance of Death. After being on stage for several productions, Hopkins became a TV and film actor. He subsequently portrayed the role of Pierre Bezulkhov in the TV series of War and Peace in year 1972. In year 1980, Hopkins portrayed the lead role in the film called, Change of Seasons, which also includes the star of Shirley MacLaine. In year 1996, he was awarded an honorary fellowship from the University of Wales, Lampeter.
In year 2003, Hopkins earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He then portrayed the role of Burt Munro on the 2005 film of The World’s Fastest Indian. N year 2006, Hopkins became the recipient of the Golden Globe Cecil B. DeMille Award for Lifetime achievement. In year 2008, he also received the BAFTA Academy Fellowship Award. He subsequently portrayed the role of Odin, the father of Thor, in the film adaptation of the Marvel Comics’ Thor. In year 2010, Hopkins appeared in the comedy-drama film of You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger, where he portrayed the role of Alfie Shepridge. On the other hand, it was announced on February 2010 that the actor had been included in the casts of the supernatural thriller film entitled, The Rite, which has been released on January 2011, where he portrayed the role of Father Lucas, who is expert when it comes to exorcisms and whose way are not essentially Traditional.
