Is an English actor, who was born on December 12, 1949 in Caterham, Surrey, to Catherine Josephine Nighy and Alfred Martin Nighy, who manages a car garage. Nighy is of Irish descent and was raised as a Catholic, serving as an altar boy. He has two siblings named Martin and Ana. He subsequently entered The John Fisher School, which is a Catholic Grammar School in Purley, where he became one of the members of the School theater group and he left with O-levels. He then had a work with the Croydon Advertiser, where he became a messenger boy. Then went on to train at the Guildford School ofActing.
After the two seasons at the Everyman, Theater, Liverpool, he made his London stage debut at the National Theater in an epic staging of Ken Campbell as well as Chris Langham’s Illuminatus. In 1980s, Night appeared in various TV shows, which also includes the Hitler’s SS: Portrait in Evil, together with John Shea and Tony Randall. He also starred in different radio and TV dramas like the most notable BBC series of The Men’s Room in year 1991. He also appeared in the TV series of State of Play in year 2003. He also portrayed the role of Samwise Gamgee in the 1981 BBC Radio dramatization of The Lord of The Rings.
He then earned some recognition by the American viewers for his portrayal of Ray Simms in the 1998 film of Crazy. On the following year, he received much fame in the UK when he portrayed the starring role in The Photographer. In year 2003, he portrayed the role of the Vampire Elder Viktor in the America production of the Underworld, which he reprised in its sequel. In February 2004, he was honored as te BAFTA Film Award for the Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal in Shameless. On the following year, Nighy appeared in the film adaptation for The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. He also appeared in the BBC One comedy drama series of The Girl in the Café.
In February 2006, he was included in the casts of the drama called, Gideon’s Daughter, where he portrayed the lead role of Gideon. The film garnered him a Golden Globe Award for the category for he Best Actor in a Mini-series or TV Movie in year 2007. Also in year 2006, Nighy made his Broadway debut at the Music Box Theater together with Julianne Moore in the production for The Vertical Hour, which has been directed by Sam Mendes. In July 2009, he revealed that he will be portraying the role of Rufus Scrimgeour in the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows-Part 1. In addition, Nighly had already collaborated with the film director David Yates for three times and with the majority of the Harry Potter cast in the previous films.
