Billy Bob Thornton is an American actor and musician, who is most notable for the portrayal in the CBS sitcom entitled, Hearts Afire. Thornton was born on August 4, 1955 in Hot Springs, Arkansas, to Virginia Roberta and William Raymond ‘Billy Ray’ Thornton, a psychic and a teacher, who passed away when Thornton was at the age of 18. In addition, Thornton has two brother named Jimmy Don Thornton and John David. When he was still in high school, Thornton became a baseball player and even tried out for a spot for the Kansas City Ryals but dropped out after he had an injury. He then entered the Henderson State Universtiy for him to continue his studies in psychology but he later left the school after the two semesters. In year 1980s, he lived in Los Angeles, to have a professional career on acting.

On the other hand, one of his early roles was in the CBS sitcom, when he was included in the casts of the CBS sitcom called, Hearts Afire, which also includes the stars of John Ritter and Markie Post. He then had a spot in the 1992 thriller film entitled, One False Move, which he also co-written. Thornton also appeared in the independent film of Sling Blade, where he portrayed the role of Karl Childers. In year 1998, he appeared as Richard Jemmons in the comedy drama film of Primary Colors, which also includes the stars of John Travolta and Emma Thompson as well as Kathy Bates and Adrian Lester. Thornton adapted the novel called, All the Pretty horses into a film, which starred Matt Damon and Penelope Cruz. In year 2001, Thornton directed the film called, Daddy and Them, in which he starred.

On the same year, he starred  three films, the comedy drama film of Bandits and the romantic drama film of Monter’s Ball as well as the film of The Man Who Wasn’t There, where he portrayed the role of Ed Crane, together with Frances McDormand and Michael Badalucco as well as James Gandolfini. He then appeared in the 2003 romantic comedy film entitled, Love Actually, where he portrayed the role of the President of the United States. On the following year, he appeared as Davy Crockett in the film called, The Alamo. Furthermore, Thornton was included in the ensemble of the 2006 comedy drama film of School for Scoundrels, where he portrayed the lead role of Dennis Sherman.

In year 2007, he appeared in the comedy film entitled, Mr. Woodcock, where he portrayed the role of jasper Woodcock, together with Sean William Scott and Susan Sarandon. On the following year, he starred together with Shia LaBeouf and Michelle Monaghan in the thriller film of Eagle Eye. He then appeared in the 2010 film of Faster. He is set to voice the role of Jack in the upcoming animated film of Puss in Boots and also set to appear as Carlos in the forthcoming film of The Baytown Disco.
