Blake Christina Lively is an American actress and model who became popular in the television series “Gossip Girl”. She was born on August 25, 1987 in Tarzana, Los Angeles. She was raised by Ernie and Elaine Lively. Lively was the youngest among the five children. She has a brother named Eric, as well as two half-sisters namely Lori and Robyn, and her half brother Jason. Blake’s brother Eric asked his agent to try auditioning. From these auditions is where Blake got her role Bridget in “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants”.
Lively started her acting career at the age of 11 in the film “Sandman” that was directed by his father in 1998. She was also casted in the film entitled “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” in the year 2005. She played one of the four female leads named Bridget. Her performance earned a nomination for the Teen Choice Award under the category “Choice Movie Breakout-Female”. In the year 2006, she was casted with Justin Long in the film entitled “Accepted”. She earned the “Breakthrough Award” from the Hollywood life. She also played Anabelle, one of the two characters in “Elvis and Anabelle”. In the year 2007, she was casted in CW’s television series “Gossip Girl”. She played the role of Serena van der Woodsen in the series. She also had her first magazine cover in the November 2007 issue of Cosmo Girl. In 2008, she reprised her role in the sequel “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2”. The film received positive reviews and earned over $44 million.
One of the best performances of Lively is the film “The Private Lives of Pippa Lee” in the year 2009. She played the younger version of the title character in the film. In 2009, Lively filmed her scenes in the 2010 film “The Town”. She played the role of Krista Coughlin which was based in the novel “Prince of Thieves” by Chuck Hogan. It was released in the United States on September 17, 2010. It was released on January 2010 that Blake will be the female lead and love interest of Hal Jordan in the film “Green Lantern” which was premiered in June 2011.
Blake’s romantic relationships were also publicized. From 2004 to 2007, Lively dated the actor Kelly Blatz. However, there were reports stating that Blake and her co-star in Gossip Girl Penn Badgley are dating. The rumors ended when People magazine presented the photos of Lively and Badgley kissing while on their vacation in Mexico. However, news came out in the mid of September 2010 that the three-year relationship of Lively and Badgley has ended. Leonardo DiCaprio was also reported dating Blake in the mid of May 2011. Their relationship ended on October 2011.
Lively was able to earn various nominations and awards in her career. In 2008, she won in Teen Choice Awards for Choice TV Actress Drama and Choice TV Breakout Start-Female. In 2010, she earned the Best Ensemble Cast from the National Board of Review in her film “The Town”. In 2011, she received the Teen Choice Awards under the category of Choice TV Actress Drama through the television series Gossip Girl.
