Brendan Gleeson is an Irish actor, who is most notable for the portrayal in the Harry Potter films and in the film of Braveheart. He was born on March 29, 1955 in Dublin, to Pat and Frank Gleeson. In addition, Gleeson considered himself as an eager reader. After he worked as a professional actor, Gleeson made his return to Ireland and he then worked as a secondary school teacher and now as a defunct Belcamp College in North County Dublin, which was closed in year 2004. He also taught the language of Irish as well as English and Physical Education. On the other hand, Gleeson had his professional acting career when he was 34 years old. He then earned much prominence in Ireland when he portrayed the role of Michael Collins in TV film called, The Treaty, which earned him a Jacob’s Award in year 1992.

He then appeared in various films like, Braveheart, where e portrayed the role of Hamish Campbell, together with Mel Gibson and Patrick McGoohan as well as Angus Macfadyen. He also appeared in the Irish comedy film called, I Went Down, where he portrayed one of the lead roles alongside peter McDonald. On the other hand, Gleeson earned critical acclaim when he portrayed the role of Martin Cahill, Irish gangster, in the film entitled, The General, in year 1998. He also portrayed one of the lead role in the film called, Michael Collins, together with Liam Neeson. He subsequently included in the casts of the biographical film of Into The Storm, where he portrayed the lead role of Winston Churchill. For his portrayal in the film, Gleeson received an Emmy Award. Moreover, Gleeson portrayed the role of Hogwarts professor Mad-Eye Moody in the fourth and seventh franchise of the Harry Potter Films. He also voiced for a role in the animated film of The Secret of Kells.

In year 2006, he starred in the short film entitled, Six Shooter, which also garnered him an Academy Award for the category of Best Live Action Short. He appeared in the 2008 black comedy film of In Bruges, which also includes the stars of Colin Farrell and Ralph Fiennes in year 2008. In the film, he portrayed the role of Ken. His portrayal on the film also earned him a huge critical acclaim, receiving him various nominations for different categories, which also includes the nomination for a Golden Globe award. In year 2010, he portrayed the role of Martin Brown in the American thriller film of Green Zone. In year 2011, Gleeson portrayed the real role of Sergeant Gerry Boyle in the Black comedy film called, The Guard, which also includes the stars of Don Cheadle and Liam Cunningham. In addition, he is set to appear in the upcoming film of Albert Nobbs.
