Brooke Christa Shields is an American actress and model. She was born on May 31, 1965 in New York City. She was raised by Frank and Teri Shields, and baptized as a Catholic. Her parents divorced shortly after her birth. She studied in New Lincoln School until her eighth grade and graduated at The Dwight-Englewood School in New Jersey in year 1983.Shields became a member of Princeton Triangle Club when she moved to Princeton University to finished her degree in French literature.
Shields started her modeling career when she was only 11 months old in 1966. Her first job was with Ivory soap. By year 1980, she appeared on the cover of the top publication “Vogue’ just at the age of 14. In the same year, Shields made TV ads for Calvin Klein jeans. Shields was recognized as one of the most recognizable faces in the world since she was making her name in modeling and acting industry. In a report of TIME magazine on February 9, 1981, it revealed that Shields is receiving $10,000 daily as a model. Her modeling career continues as she appeared again on the September issue of Paris Vogue; the October and November issues of American Vogue; as well as the December issue of Italian Vogue.
Shields has also been active in appearing in television. In the year 1980, she appeared in “The Muppet Show” wherein she was the youngest star to guest. In 1981, she hosted Friday’s, a comedy program in ABC. She was also casted in the NBC sitcom “Suddenly Susan” where she earned a People’s Choice Award under the category of Favorite Female Performer in a New Television in year 1997. She also received two Golden Globe nominations in this show. She also had several TV appearances in different shows like FX’s Nip/Tuck and Two and a Half Men, as well as “Blue Balls Lagoon” in year 2005. Shields also appeared in Hannah Montana as Susan Stewart in 2007. In the year 2010, she made a guest appearance in the comedy program “The Middle”.
Shields also tried her luck in the big screen. She first appeared in the movie “Pretty Baby” in 1978. This film became controversial because there were many nude scenes in the film. She was probably 11 years old that time when they filmed the movie. The film “The Blue Lagoon” also gained controversy because there were also nude scenes of teenage lovers. Shields earned a People’s Choice Award under the category of Favorite Young Performer from year 1981 to 1984 in the film “Endless Love”. In year 2001, Brooke was casted with Cherry Jones in a film entitled “What makes a Family”. It was a true to life story of two married lesbian.
Shields dated the Superman star Dean Cain when she was in Princeton in the mid of 1980s. She was also linked with several personalities like John F. Kennedy Jr., George Michael, and actor Liam Neeson. She was also romantically linked to John Travolta and Dodi Fayed when she was 18 years old.
Brooke married the professional tennis player Andre Agassi on April 19, 1997 and ended on April 9, 1999. After the marriage with Agassi, she was married to Chris Henchy who was a television writer on April 4, 2001. They had two daughters namely Rowan Francis and Grier Hammond.
