He played the lead in Franswa Sharl (Dir Hannah Hilliard) the multi-award winning short film that also took out The Berlin Crystal Bear at the Berlinale Festival in 2010 along with another 9 international awards.  He has just completed a lead role in the most historic TV series made in Australia in decades – based on the multi-award winning bestselling book – Cloudstreet by Tim Winton (screening in 2011).

McAuliffe made his American feature debut in the Warner Bros. film, Flipped, directed by Rob Reiner.  He auditioned for the film while on vacation in the United States and won the role of Bryce, the romantic lead.  The film is based on the 2001 novel of the same name by Wendelin Van Draanen.  In May 2010, McAuliffe was cast in a lead role in the science fiction film I Am Number Four, produced by Steven Spielberg and Michael Bay.  He played Sam, the best friend of Alex Pettyfer’s title character, Number Four.  The D.J. Caruso-directed film began production in Pittsburgh in May 2010 and was released in the United States on 18 February 2011. He has been cast as the archangel Uriel in the film version of Paradise Lost.

McAuliffe filmed the Australian TV miniseries, Cloudstreet, based on the book of the same name by Tim Winton.  McAuliffe plays the lead, Quick Lamb, a young teenager, where he falls in love with young teen Roberta Tronigan.  His best friend Gerardo Espinosa plays a sidekick in his new upcoming movie “Diesel.”

Callan took private lessons at Screenwise Film & TV School in Sydney Australia.  Callan is the Youth Ambassador to The Wolf Connection, a non-profit organization, which works with wolves and wolf dogs in programs to help ‘at-risk’ teenagers in the Greater Los Angeles Area.  Callan is a hands-on Ambassador, using his weekends to train with the wolf dogs.  When he is not filming, he assists in the programs led by trained counselors.

Callan is based out of both Los Angeles and Sydney as he finishes his education.  Callan is now working in Los Angeles, but his other interests include music (a Grad subject), martial arts and a high interest in the outdoors and natural habitats.  Callan has achieved his Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award for outdoor survival and is focused on achieving his Silver Award in Africa later this year (2011).
