The 36-year old American actress-comedian was born on February 26, 1975 to Sylvia and Melvin, a Mormon and a Jewish. She grew up in the Suburban town of Livingston, New Jersey. Handler, who is the youngest of the six children, was raised in a Reform Judaism by her mother. In addition Handler relocated from New Jersey to Los Angeles to pursue her acting career, when she was only 19. Handler recently said in one of her interviews that she had an abortion at the age of 16.

Chelsea Handler hosted the first episode of the reality show of On the Lot. However, Handler left the show before the second episode was broadcasted. In April 2006, Handler hosted The Chelsea Handler, which lasted for only two seasons. She made an appearance on the talk shows of Red Eye w/ Greg Gutfeld and in The View. In August 2007 and September 2008, Handler co-hosted the show of The View. Handler then hosts her very own late night talk show on E! entitled, Chelsea Lately. In year 2009, she won the Bravo A-List Award for the category called, A-List Funny.

Handler was announced as the host on the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. It was said that the announcement were very surprising to a lot of people, which also includes the MTV itself. Handler was said to be the second woman in the record of the VMA to be the only host of the said ceremony.

Chelsea Handler penned down four books on the New York Times Best Seller List. It was said that three of her books topped the said list. She wrote My Horizontal Life: A Collection of One-Night Stands as her own biography. It was said that the book shows the variety of sexual encounters that she has been experienced all through her life. She also authored the book called, Are You There, Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea, which composed of various amusing essays.

In her personal life, Handler announced through her late night talk show that she and her long time boyfriend Ted Harbert had broken up. The former couple is dating since year 2006. In year 2009, she also announced on her show that she is dating the actor and TV producer Dace Salmoni. However, when she was question by one of her show’s guest if she is single, Handler affirmed that she was. In the most recent episode of her talk show, Handler told her audience that she was dating again. It was said that Andre Blazs is the lucky guy whom she talking to.
