The Australian actor, who is most notable on his portrayal on the recently released box office hit film of Thor, was born on August 23, 1981 at Melbourne, Australia to Leonie and Craig. Their family moved to a cattle station in the Northern place, his family then lived there for a few years before moving to the Philip Island. While growing, Chris enjoyed surfing and playing different kind of sports.

In year 2004, he tried out for the TV series called, Home and Away, for the part of Robbie Hunter, which portrayed by Jason Smith. He was unluckily failed to win the role but he was recalled for the part of Kim Hyde. He was successfully portrayed the said role and after that he moved to Sydney, Australia to join the ensemble of the series. In addition, he appeared on the series for 171 episodes. After almost three years, Hemsworth left the cast of the show and as the result for his acting job, he earned two Logie Award nominations and also won the Most Popular New Talent on Home and Away in late 2005.

On the same year, Hemsworth played the role of George Kirk, father of James Kirk, in the opening scenes of the 2009 film of J.J Abrams entitled, Star Trek. Also, he portrayed the role of Kale, on the 2009 film of ‘A Perfect Getaway’. On the other hand, he is set to appear on the forthcoming horror film entitled, The Cabin in the Woods, as well in the upcoming remake film of Red Dawn, wherein he will be portraying the role of Jed Eckert.

In 2010 film entitled, Cash, Hemsworth portrayed the role of Sam Phelan, his role was said to be an economically troubled person and it also marked his Hollywood debut. It was said to be the very first film he made upon arriving in the United States.

In his personal life, Hemsworth tied the knot to his fellow actress, Elsa Pataky, after being dating for only three months. Hemsworth has two brothers, Luke and his younger brother Liam Hemsworth, who are also actors.

Chris Hemsworth earned hi break-through performance when he portrayed the role of Thor, in the recently released adaptation film of the Marvel Comics superhero of the same name. His brother Liam Hemsworth was originally landed on the final four for the role, while he failed to make it to the list. However, he still won the role after the film director, Kenneth Branagh, made a decision to re-assess the past candidates who auditioned for the role.  On the other hand, Chris earned good advice from his brother by saying that the two of the both of them are competing with each other but in a good way.

In addition, Chris Hemsworth is all set to reprise his role as Thor, on the upcoming Marvel Comic film adaptation of ‘The Avengers’.  The film is all about the superheroes who will be working together as one to protect the Planet Earth. The upcoming adaptation film is set to hit the big screen in 2012.
