Colin Firth is an English actor who was born on September 10, 1960 in Grayshott, Hampshire, England, to Shirley Jean and David Norman Lewis Firth, a comparative religion lecturer and a history lecturer. He has two siblings, a sister named Kate and a younger brother named, Jonathan, who is also an actor like him. He spent most of his childhood days in Nigeria, the place where his father was teaching. At the young age of 11, he lived St Louis, Missouri and later entered the Montgomery of Alamein Secondary School, which is said to be a state comprehensive school in the Winchester, Hampshire. He also attended the Barton Peveril College in the Eastleigh, Hampshire. In addition, Firth’s acting training began at the Drama Centre in London.

In year 1983, Firth appeared in the award winning stage production of the Another Country, where he portrayed the role of Guy Bennett. On the following year, he debuted in big screen when he was included in the casts of the screen remake of the play, where he then played for ten role of Tommy Judd, alongside Rupert Everett, who is portraying the role of Bennett. In year 1986 he appeared together with Laurence Oliver in the TV adaptation of the book of J. B. Priestley entitled, Lost Empires.

Firth subsequently portrayed the lead role in the 1989 drama film of Valmont. He was also included in the cast of the film of Apartment Zero. Firth earned his famous when he starred in the 1995 TV adaptation of Pride and Prejudice of Jane Austen. It was an international success, in which Firth named as a heartthrob for portraying the role of Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy. After being included in the casts of the 1996 film of The English Patient, Firth has then starred in various films like the 1997 Fever Pitch, Shakespeare in Love and in Relative Values in 2000. He also starred in the film of Bridget Jones Diary in year 2001. He continuously appeared in different films such as the 2003 films of Love Actually, What a Girl Wants, Hope Spring and Girl with a Pear Earing.

Colin Firth also starred in the 2004 film of Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason. On the following year, Firth was included in the casts of the film of Nanny McPhee and Where the Truth Lies. He the portrayed the role of Frank in the 2007 comedy film called, Then She Find Me, together with the star of Helen Hunt. In year 2007, Firth was included in the film of The Last Legion, where he portrayed the role of Aurelius, together with the star of Aishwarya Rai. On the following year, Firth was also included in the cast of the film entitled, When did you Last See Your Father and in the adaptation of the film of Mamma Mia! and Easy Virtue. He then portrayed the role of Prince Albert in the 2010 film of The King’s Speech. On January 2011, Colin Firth garnered a Golden Globe award for his portrayal on the film.
