Debra Messing is an American actress, who is most notable for the portrayal of Grace in the NBC series show of Will & Grace. She was born on August 15, 1968 in the Brooklyn borough of the New York City, to Sandra and Brian Messing, real estate agent and a sales executive for a costume jewelry packaging manufacturing. Messing, who is a Jewish, was baptized with the real name of Debra Lynn Messing. At the young age of three, Messing relocated together with her family to East Greenwich. When she was still in high school, Messing performed in some of their school’s production, which also includes the starring role in the musical productions of Annie and Grease.
She then attended lessons in dance and acting. In year 1985, Messing became the Rhode Island’s Junior Miss and as a result, she competed in Mobile, Alabama in the America’s Junior Miss scholarship program. Messing entered the Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. While she was in her junior year, she took theater at the well known London-based British European Studio Group program. In yea 1990, after she graduated as a summa cum laude in the Brandeis University with a bachelors’ degree in theater arts, she had an access to the elite Graduate Acting Program at the New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. She subsequently gained a Master’s Degree in Fine Arts.
Moreover, Messing was praised by many for her portrayal in the pre-Broadway production of the Tony Kushner’s play called, Angels in America: Perestroika. He then appeared in some of the episodes of the TV series of the NYPD Blue. Also, in year 1995, she made her big screen debut with the film of Alfonso Arau entitled, A Walk in the Clouds. On the other hand, she did not accept the lead role on the other sitcom, for her to appear in Donald Margulies’ two-character play called, Collected Stories. In year 202, Messing was included in the list of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the World by the renowned People Magazine. In year 2004, she portrayed a supporting role in the romantic comedy film called, Along Came Polly.
On the following year, she portrayed the role of Kat Ellis in the romantic comedy film of The Wedding Date, which also starred Dermot Mulroney and Amy Adams. Furthermore, Messing was awarded the Women in Film Lucy Award. She subsequently portrayed the lead role of Molly Kagan in the miniseries of The Starter Wife, which also includes the stars of Judy Davis and Miranda Otto. In year 2011, it was announced that she will be appearing in the newest NBC musical entitled, Smash. In May of the same year, it was also reported that the NBC had hauled up the show as a series for the 2011-2012 season. Also, in year 2011, Messing landed on the 22nd spot at the TV Guide Network special, Funniest Women in TV.
