Elijah Wood is an American actor, who is most notable for the portrayal of Frodo Baggins in the trilogy film of Lord of the Rings. He was born on January 28, 1981 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Debra and Warren W. Woods, who were delicatessen operators. He was baptized with the real name of Elijah Jordan Wood and has a brother named Zachariah Woo and a sister, Hannah Wood. At the young age of ten, started in modeling within his hometown and has also had a piano lesson.  When he was on his elementary level, Wood hit the stage when he was included in the ensemble of the stage play called, The Sound of Music.  He then portrayed the title role in the play of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. He then appeared as a choirboy in the play called, See How They Run, which was produced by the Marion Creative Council. In his early career, Wood modeled and had appeared in various local commercials before he and his family relocated to Los Angeles in year 1988, where he had his initial break, appearing in Paul Abdul’s video called, Forever Your Gilr. He then had a role in the TV film called, Child in the Night in year 1990.

On the same year, he appeared in the feature film entitled, Avalon, where he portrayed the role of Michael Kaye. In year 1991, Wood appeared as Willard Young, together with Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson in the 1991 film of Paradise. Wood was also included in the casts of the 1994 drama film called, The War, where he portrayed the lead role of Stu, together with Kevin Costner. His portrayal on the film earned him a nomination for a Young Star Award. He starred in the comedy film of North. In year 1996, Wood portrayed the lead role of Sandy Ricks in the remake of the 19963 film called, Flipper. He then appeared in the 1997 film of The Ice Storm, which starred Kevin Kline, Joan Allen, and Sigourney Weaver. In year 1999, Wood portrayed the role of Wren in the film of Black and White. On the same year, Wood was included in the casts of the film of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, where he portrayed the lead role of Frodo Baggins. He won the role among the 150 others who auditioned for it.

On the other hand, Wood appeared in the crime drama film called, Ash Wednesday, which also starred Edward Burns and Rosario Dawson. In year 2002, he reprised the role of Frodo Baggins in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.He then appeared as Jones Dillon in the 2003 film called, All I Want, alongside Mandy Moore and Franka Potente. Also, in year 2003, he reprised again his role of Baggins in the third sequel of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. On the following year, Wood starred with Kate WInslet and Jim Carrey in the romantic film called, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. He then starred in the 2005 film entitled; Everything is Illuminated, where he portrayed the role of Jonathan Safran Foer. Wood lent his voice for the lead role of Mumble in the box office animated hit film of Happy Feet, alongside Hugh Jackman, Brittany Murphy and Nicole Kidman. He also voiced the lead role in the 2009 animated film called, 9.in addition, Wood is set to appear in the upcoming films of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: There and Back Again.
