Emily Kathleen A. Mortimer is an English actress, who is most notable for the portrayal in the films of Scream 3 and Match Point. She was born on December 1, 1971 Finsbury Park, London, England, to Penelope and Sir John Mortimer, who is a lawyer. She has a younger sister named Rosie and another two older half siblings named Sally Silverman and Jeremy and also has a half-brother named Ross Bentley. Mortimer attended the St. Paul Girl’s School in west London, where she participated in various student productions. She subsequently entered the Oxford University, where she read Russia at the Lincoln College, where she also appeared in some of its school plays.
Before Mortimer became an actress, she wrote a column for the Daily Telegraph and has also became a screenwriter for a screen adaptation of the memoir of Lorna Sage entitled, Bad Blood. On the other hand, Mortimer had performed in various plays while she was still attending the Oxford University. While she was performing in a student production, she was noticed by a producer who was included her in the TV show called, Sharpe’s Sword and the series show of Coming Home.
On the other hand, the first film role of Mortimer was in the 1996 film entitled, The Ghost and the Darkness, which starred Michael Douglas and Val Kilmer. She then appeared in the coming-of-age film of The Last of the High Kings, which has been released on the same year. In year 1997, she portrayed the role of Katherine Lacey in the pilot episode of the Midsomer Murders entitled, The Killings at Badge’s Drift, on the following year she appeared in the film of Elizabeth, where she portrayed the role of Kat Ashley.
Moreover, Mortimer portrayed the role of Miss Flynn in the mini-series called, Cider with Rosie, which has been adapted for TV by her own father, in year 1999, she appeared in the box office hit romantic film of Notting Hill, which also includes the stars of Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant. She then portrayed the role of Esther in the TV series of Noah’s Ark. In year 2000Mortimer was included in the casts of the adaptation of Love’s Labour’s Lost. In year 2002, Mortimer starred in the film of The 51st state, which was also known as the Formula 51. The film also starred Samuel Jackson and Robert Carlyle. In year 2004, she appeared in the film of Dear Frankie, it was then followed by a major role in the film of Woody Allen entitled, Match Point.
On the other hand, she was featured in the 2006 and the 2009 film of The Pink Panther, portraying the role of the love interest of Inspector Clouseau, portrayed by Steve Martin. Mortimer portrayed the role of Karin Lindstrom in the 2007 comedy-drama film of Lars and the Real Girl, which also includes the star of Ryan Gosling. in addition, she also portrayed the role of Andy Garcia, an aspiring actress Molly Charlesworth in the comedy drama film of City Island. In year 2010, she appeared in the film of Shutter Island and also portrayed the role of Leonie Gilmour in the film called, Leonie.
