Emily Rossum is an American, who is most notable for the portrayal in the films of Songcathcer and An American Rhapsody as well as Passionada. She was born on September 12, 1986 in New York City New York, to Cheryl, a single mother who worked as a corporate photographer and an investment banker. In addition, her mother is of Jewish, while her father is a WASP. Her parents get divorced before she was born. Rossum was baptized with the real name of Emmanuelle Grey “Emmy” Rossum. By the young age of 12, Rossum had grown too big for the children’s costumes. A passion on acting led her take classes with Flo Salant Greenberg of The New Actors Workshop in New York City. She was also hires as an agent and also auditioned for several acting roles.
In year 1997, Rossum made her TV debut, when she appeared as a guest star on the drama series of law & Order, where she portrayed role of Allison Martin. She then had a recurring role as Abigail Williams in the long-running daytime soap opera entitled, As the World Turns. In addition, Rossum also appeared as a guest star in the TV series of Snoop, portraying the role of Caroline Beels. Rossum earned nomination for a Young Artist Award in year 1999 for the category in the Best performance in a TV Movie for her portrayal in the TV film of Genius. It was then followed by a role in the ABC TV film of The Audrey Hepburn Story in year 2000.
Also, in year 2000, Rossum debuted on Silver Screen with the drama film of Songcatcher, where she portrayed the role of Deladis Slocumb. The film earned a Jury Award for Outstanding Ensemble Performance. In addition, her role on the said film earned her Independent Spirit Award nomination for the category in best Debut Performance and has also gave her a chance to have a duet with Dolly Parton on the film’s soundtrack. On the same year, the Variety magazine included her in their list of One of the ten to Watch. Moreover, in year 2003, Rossum portrayed the lead role of Nola in the romantic comedy film of Nola, which also includes the stars of Steven Bauer and James Badge Dale.
Furthermore, Rossum portryae dthe role of Katie Markum in the Clint Eastwood’s directed dram film of Mystic River, which also starred Sean Penn. In year 2006, Rossum also appeared in the film of Poseidon, which is the remake of the disaster film of the Poseidon Adventure. Rossum the portrayed on of the lead role in the 2009 film of Dragonball Evolution. On the same year, she was included in the ensemble of the Showtime’s drama series called, Shameless, which is initially based on the British series of the same name. in year 2011, Rossum starred in the social film of Inside, where she portrayed the lead role of Christina Rossum.
