Ewan McGregor is a Scottish actor, who is most notable for the portrayal of Mark Renton in the film entitled, Trainspotting. He was born on March 31, 1971 in the Royal Infirmary in Perth, Scotland, to Carol Diane and James Charles Stuart “Jim” McGregor, a school administrator and a physical education teacher. In addition, was baptized with the real name of Ewan Gordon McGregor, and has an older brother named Colin. In addition, McGregor studied drama at the Guilfhall School of Music and Drama. In year 1993, six months before her graduation, he earned the leading role in the TV series of Lipstick on Your Collar. On the same year, he starred in the BBC Adaptation of the Scarlet and Black, together with Rachel Weisz.
On the other hand, McGregor made his film debut in the film of Bill Forsyth entitled, Being Human, which also starred Robbin Williams and John Tuturro as well as Bill Nighy. In the film, he portrayed the role of Alvarez. In year 1994, he starred as Alex Law, together with Kerry Fox and Christopher Eccleston in the comedy thriller film called, Shallow Grave. The film earned him an Empire Award. Moreover in year 1996, he had his international break when he portrayed the role of Mark Renton in the British drama film entitled, Trainspotting, which also includes the stars of Ewan Bremner and Johnny Lee Miller as well as Robert Carlyle. In year 1998, he portrayed the male lead role of Billy in the drama film called, Little Voice, alongside Brenda Blethyn and Jane Horrocks as well as Michael Caine.
On the following year, he was included in the casts of the box office film of the Star Wars: Episode 1- The Phantom Menace, where he portrayed the role of the young Obi-Wan Kenobi. In year 2001, he also starred in the musical film called, Moulin Rouge, which also includes the stars of Nicole Kidman and Jim Broadbent as well as Richard Roxburgh. He then reprised his role in the prequel of Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones in year 2002. On the following year, he appeared together with Renee Zellweger in the romantic comedy film entitled, Down with Love.
In year 2005, he reprised again the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars: Episode III=Revenge of the Sith. On the same year, he voiced for the roles in two different successful films. On the following year, McGregor narrated one of the productions of Fulldome entitled, Astronaut. In year 2007, he starred together with Colin Farrell in one of the films of Woody Allen entitled, Cassandra’s Dream. In year 2009, he also appeared with Jim Carrey in the romantic comedy film called, I Love You Philip Morris, where he portrayed the role of Philip Morris. In addition, McGregor appeared in the 2011 film of Perfect Sense, where he portrayed the role of Michael. McGregor is also set to star in the upcoming film of Salmon Fishing in the Yemen.
