Gemma Arterton is an English actress, who was born on January 12, 1986 in Gravesende Kent, to Sally Anne and Barry Arterton, a cleaner and a welder. Arterton has a younger sister named Hannah Jane Gravesend. At the young age of five her parents got divorced and her father married again in year 1996. Before she became an actress, Arterton first worked as amakeup salesgirl. In addition, she entered the Painters Ash Primary School in the Northfleet, she then entered the Gravesend Grammar School for the Girls on the Pelham Road in the Gravesend, where she took a course called, Performance Arts at the Miskin Theater in Dartford and also trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
Gemma Arterton made her first professional role in the drama school production of Stephen Poliakoff entitled, Capturing Mary. Her breakthrough role came when she starred in the 2009 film of The Disappearance of Alice Creed, where her role has been kidnapped and was abused in various nude scenes.
In year 2008, Gemma Arterton became the artist of Avon’s Bond Girl 007, a perfume which has been released on October 2008. In year 2010, Arterton landed on West End in the UK premiere of The Little Dog Laughed. On the other hand, Arterton was initially set to star in the newe adaptation of the Wuthering Heights, where she is set to portray the role of Catherine Earnshow. However, Arterton later turned down the said role. On the other hand, She is set to appear in the upcoming film of Burden of Desire.
