Gregory Smith is a Canadian actor, who is most notable for the portrayal of Ephram Brown on the TV series entitled, Everwood. Smith was born on July 6, 1983 in Toronto, Canada to Terrea and Maurice Smith, a teacher and a producer. It was said that Smith’s mother had also appeared in some of the films that has been produced in late 1980s. Smith was baptized with the real name of Gregory Edward Smith and has two brothers named Andrew and Douglas, who is also an actor like him. He also has a young sister named Samantha. In addition, Smith grew up in Vancouver and has the combination of Canadian and US Citizen. On the other hand, Smith started his professional acting career when he was only fourteen months old, appearing in one of the Tide commercials as well as in some store catalogues.
Moreover, after Smith had a role in the children film called, Andre, in year 1994, he was included in the casts of the 1995 direct-to-video release Leapin’ Leprechauns and in the 1996 sequel called, Spellbreaker: Secret of the Leprechauns. On the same year, Smith also appeared together with Michelle Tachtenberg in the film called, Harriet the Spy. He then starred in the other direct-to –video film entitled, Shadow Zone: My Teacher Ate My Homework. Smith also appeared in the three various films in year 1998 entitled, Krippendorf’s Tribe, where he portrayed one of the children of the lead character and then the film of The Climb, which also starred the actor John Hurt and the third film is the Small Soldiers, where he portrayed the lead role together with the star of Kirsten Dunst. The film also earned him a Young Artist Award for the Best Performance in a Feature Film Leading Young Actor in year 1999.
During the 2000s, Smith had an appearance in the 2000 film of Mel Gibson entitled, The Patriot. On the following year, he appeared as Jim Younger in the Western American film called, Outlaws and was also featured in the short-lived drama series of Kate Brasher and was also included in the casts of WB TV network entitled, Everwood, where he portrayed the lead role of Ephram Brown. The series aired from year 2002 up to the year 2006. For the portrayal on the said series, Smith earned a Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a TV series- Comedy or Drama Leading Young Actor in year 2003. On the other hand, Smith next appeared in the Independent film called, Nearing Grace, which also starred Ashley Johnson and Jordana Brewster, where he portrayed the role of Henry Nearing. In year 2007, he portrayed a small role in The Seeker: The Dark is Rising, where he portrayed the role of Max Stanton. He also appeared in the film of Closing the Ring and in the thriller called, Boot Camp. On the following year, he produced the direct release-to-DVD film entitled, Wieners. In addition, Smith also had an appearance in the TV series of Eli Stone. In year 2010, he was included in the casts of the upcoming thriller film of Dream House.
