Singer Gwen Stefani is the cover girl of Instyle’s November 2011 issue, on newsstands Friday (October 21). The 42-year-old beauty looks amazing in a Marchesa dress and Lorraine Schwartz bangles. In the interview with the magazine’s cover story, the star opens up about music, fashion, marriage and family. The No Doubt singer has some important projects on the works as she is launching her third line Harajuku Mini for Target mid-November and a new No Doubt album is planned for next year.
Being a wife, mother, singer and designer at the same time, the songstress admitted in the interview with the magazine that parenting Kingston, 5, and Zuma, 3 is the toughest thing she has to deal with. “Being a mother is probably the most challenging thing I do,” Gwen says. However, Stefani seems to have a secret when it comes to balancing career and family life. “At work I’ve learned how to delegate. You don’t have to be on a ladder in a warehouse, micromanaging. You can be at home. And teamwork is also such a big part of marriage and parenting,” she told InStyle.
On making time for her young sons she added, “The thing I’d like to do is enjoy these boys while they’re young – so I don’t regret I was working too much when they’re big and don’t want to cuddle with me anymore.” “I like them to be creative and have fun,” she says of 5-year-old Kingstonand 3-year-old Zuma. “Sometimes they’ll get dressed and it’s horrifying. But they often come out in outfits that are awesome.” Gwen’s fashion sense has stemmed down to her to her two sons, perhaps. Being married to a rockstar, Gwen often dresses to impress husband Gavin Rossdale. . “It was like my own runway. I thought, ‘You are being such an idiot!’” She admits of trying on five outfits before leaving the house for a date. The singer praised her husband saying, “He looks good in everything.”
Everyone may feel jealous of Gwen Stefani’s excellent appearance, as she is always on top. She always manages to stand out with her gorgeous outfits, be it daytime or red carpet appearance. Early this year, Gwen was announced as the new brand ambassador for L’Oréal Paris. On her glamorous blonde hair, the singer said, “My hair color is L’Oreal, but I won’t reveal the number. And I do my roots as often as Marilyn Monroe did hers. I’m serious. I found out…You know, I was a redhead once. Right after we came home from the first No Doubt tour I felt like I might get recognized, so I colored my hair red. And I hated it. “The makeup goes on every day, even if I’m not going anywhere,” she said about her make-up routines. “When I was 17, my grandmother got me a gift pack with all these different colored lipsticks, and one of them was burgundy,” she tells the mag. “I tried it on and looked in the rear-view mirror and said, ‘That looks good.’ I’ve worn it ever since.”
