Hilary Erhard Duff who is professionally known as Hilary Duff was born in Houston, Texas on September 28, 1987 by Susan Colleen and Robert Erhard Duff. She was an American actress, singer-songwriter, entrepreneur, and author. Duff became a theater actress at her early age. Her breakthrough performance was when she played the title role of television series entitled “Lizzie McGuire”. It also turned into a movie which was entitled “The Lizzie McGuire Movie.”
Duff’s acting career started in the year 1997 when she played minor roles in television min series “True Women” from the Hallmark Entertainment”. The very first major role portrayed by Duff is in “Casper Meets Wendy”, where she was a young witch.
In year 1999, Duff appeared as a supporting role in television film “The Soul Creator”. The breakthrough performance of Duff in the said film made her won a Young Artist Award in a TV Movie or Pilot; she got the Best Supporting Young Actress award.
Her fame started when she starred in the television series “Lizzie McGuire” which focused mainly in the character into Lizzie McGuire’s adolescence. The series appeared in Disney Channel on January 12, 2001. The TV series became a big hit that it has 2.3 million viewers every episode.
In 2002, Duff also starred a film under Disney Channel entitled “Cadet Kelly” wherein she played as a girl who enters a military school.
In 2003, the American actress received her major role when she was included in the film “Agent Cody Banks” with Frankie Muniz. The film became a hit that it received positive feedbacks from the critics. Duff was not able to join the sequel of the movie because she was currently doing the film version of Lizzie McGuire that time.
In year 2004, Duff made a romantic comedy entitled “A Cinderella Story”. The movie received negative reviews, however, it pursued on becoming a box office hit. In the same year, the American actress starred in a drama film entitled “Raise your Voice.” Duff’s performance was regarded by the critics to be mature and serious, however, it did not make to the box office.
In 2007, a documentary television special was produced in accordance to her return in recording industry. In September of the same year, Duff confirmed that she will make two independent films entitled “According to Greta” and “What Goes Up.”
Duff was also active in the music industry. In year 2002, she recorded her own version of Brooke McClymont’s “I Can’t Wait” for the soundtrack of her own series Lizzie McGuire. Duff’s first album was entitled the “Santa Claus Lane” in which she has duet performance with her sister, as well as Lil’ Romeo, and Christina Millan.
The second album of Duff was entitled “Metamorphosis” which was released in year 2003. The album sold over 3.9 million copies in the US by year 2007. The lead single of the album was “So Yesterday” which became a hit in many countries. The second single entitled “Come Clean” which became the soundtrack in the TV series “Laguna Beach.”
The third album of Duff was the self-titled “Hilary Duff”. It was released in her seventeenth birthday in September 2004.
And just this August 15, 2011, Duff announced in her website that she with her husband Mike Comrie is expecting their first child. She also stated that she is currently four months pregnant. Duff met Comrie in 2009 that was an NHL Pittsburgh Penguins star.
