Hugh Laurie is an English actor, musician and recording artist, who was born on June 11, 1959 in Oxford, England, to Patricia and Ran Laurie, who was a medical doctor, Laurie was the younger of fopour children, his older brother named Charles and Two older sisters named Susan and Janet. In addition, Laurie was raised in the Presbyterian Church as a child but he admitted that he does not believe in God. Laurie was brought up in Oxford and entered the Dragon School. He then went to Selwyn College, Cambridge, where he took a degree in archaeology and social anthropology. While he was at Cambridge, he became one of the members of the Footlights, it is the drama tic club of the said University, which has been produced by the renowned actors and comedians and in year 1981, he became the president of the said club. He also became one of the members of the Hermes Club and the Hawks’ Club.
On the other hand, Laurie also became a oarsman in his school and university and in year 1977, he became on of the members of the junior coxed pair that earned the British national title before representing the Britain’s Youth team at the Junior World Rowling Championships in year 1977. However, Laurie was forced to leave rowing because of glandular fever; he joined the Cambridge Footlights, which was said to be the starting line for those successful British comedians.
Hugh Laurie, Stephen Fry and Emma Thompson was being chosen, together with Ben Elton, Robbie Coltrane and Siobhan Redmond to write and star in a sketch comedy show for the Granada Television called, Alfresco, which aired for only two seasons. All through the year of 1980s and 1990s, Fry as well as Laurie worked together with various projects like the series of Blackadder, which was written by Ben Elton and Richard Curtis, which also starred Rowan Atkinson and in the BBC Sketch comedy series show called, A Bit of Fry and Laurie. The two also worked together in different charity events like the Amnesty International’s The Secret Friends and the Hysterial 1, 2 & 3.
Since the year of 2002, Hugh Laurie appeared in various British TV dramas and also appeared as a guest star in two episodes of the thrillers series of Spooks. In year 2004, he appeared as a guest star on The Lenny Henry Show. He gained much fame in year 2004, when he starred as Dr. Gregory House in the well known medical drama series of House. In year 2007, he appeared on the documentary of the BBC Four called, Stephen Fry: 50 not Out, in the celebration of the 50th Birthday of Fry. On the following year, he portrayed the role of Capt. James Bigss in the action crime film of Street Kings, which also includes the stars of Keanu Reeves and Chris Evans. In year 2010, Laurie an independent feature entitled, The Oranges. On the same year, he appeared as a guest star in Treehouse of horror XXI of the well known The Simpsons, where he portrayed the role of Roger.
