Hugo Weaving’s Biography and PicturesHugo Weaving is an English-Australian actor, who is most notable for the portrayal of Agent Smith in the film trilogy of Matrix. He was born on April 4, 1960 in Ibadan, Nigeria, to Anne and Wallace Weaving, a tour guide and a seismologist. After giving birth to Weaving, he together with his family, made their return to England and lived in Bedford and Brighton, then they moved to Melbourne as well in Sydney Australia. They also lived in Johannesburg in South Africa before they returned to England. When the Weaving family was in England, Weaving entered the Queen Elizabeth’s Hospital, which is said to be an independent boarding school. On the other hand, Weaving’s family then relocated back to Australia in year 1976, where he entered a private school, Sydney’s Knox Grammar School. He also attended the Australia’s National Institute of Dramatic Art, where he graduated in year 1981. In addition, Weaving was baptized with the real name of Hugo Wallace Weaving.

On the other hand, Weaving had his first major role in year 1984, appearing in the TV series called, Bodyline, where he portrayed the role of Douglas Jardine. He then appeared in the 1988 miniseries called, The Dirtwater Dynasty. On the same year, he appeared as Geoffrey Chambers in the drama series of Barlow and Chambers: A Long Way from Home. On the following year, Weaving starred together with Nicole Kidman in the film entitled, Bangkok Hilton. In year 1991, Weaving starred in the film of Jocelyn Moorhouse called, Proof, where he portrayed the role of Martin. His portrayal on the film earned him an Australian Film Institute award for the Best Actor. Weaving was also included in the casts of the 1993 comedy film of Reckless Kelly, where he appeared as Sir John. Subsequently, Weaving earned wide range of attention when he appeared in the 1994 comedy-drama film entitled, The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, which also starred Terence Stamp, Guy Pearce and Bill Hunter.

In year 1998, Weaving starred in the thriller film called, The Interview, where he portrayed the role of Eddie Rodney Fleming, alongside Tony Martin and Aaron Jeffrey. His portrayal on the film garnered him the Montreal Film Festival award for the Best actor. On the following year, Weaving portrayed one of his notable role, Agent Smith, in the 1999 box office hit film of The Matrix, which starred Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne. He then reprised the said role on the film’s second and third sequel. Weaving was also included in the ensemble of the fantasy film of The Lord of the Rings, where he portrayed the role of Elrond, which he reprised on the film’s second and third installments. In year 2004, he starred together with Abbie Cornish and Sullivan Stapleton in the award winning short film entitled, Everything Goes, where he portrayed the role of Ray. On the following year, Weaving appeared in the film of Little Fish, which starred Cate Blanchett and Sam Neil. In year 2006, Weaving starred together with Natalie Portman in the thriller film called, V for Vendetta, where he portrayed the lead role of V. Weaving then lent his voice for the role of Megatron in the box office hit film of Transformers as well as in its sequels, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

Moreover, Weaving starred in the drama film called, Last Ride, where he portrayed the role of Kev. On the following year, Weaving appeared in the films, The Wolfman, Oranges and Sunshine, where he portrayed the roles of Detective Aberline and Jack, respectively. Weaving portrayed the main villain in the 2022 superhero film of Captain America: The First Avenger, alongside Chris Evans, who portrayed the role of Captain America. In addition, Weaving is set to appear in the upcoming film of The Hobbit and is set to led his voice for the role of Megatron in Transformers: The Ride and the role of Noah in the upcoming animated film of Happy Feet.
