The 33-year-old American actor was born on April 19, 1978 in Palo Alto, California, to Betsy Lou and Douglas Eugene Franco, a poet and a person who manages a non-profit agency. His father has the combination of Portuguese and Swedish descent, while her mother is a Jewish, who is a descendant of immigrants from Russia. James Franco grew up on California together with his two brothers, Tom and Dave, who is also an actor. In 1996 he graduated from the Palo Alto High School, where he learned to act and plays.

James Franco started auditioning in Los Angeles after his 15 months of training. In 1997, he began his professionally acting job in a guest role on some of the TV shows. In year 1999, hi very first break came after he was included as the lead role on the series show of Freaks and Geeks. However, the show was pulled out because of poor viewership. When he was filming the said movie, he was not able to communicate with both of his family and friends as well as her girlfriend.

In the 2002 Spider-Man film, James Franco portrayed the role of Harry Osborn, who is the son of Green Goblin, who is played by Willem Dafoe, his role was also the best companion of the lead role portrayed by Tobey Maguire. On the following year, he then reprised his role as Harry Osborn on the third sequel of the Spider-Man. Franco starred together with Natalie Portman and Danny McBride in the 2011 fantasy comedy film of Your Highness. In year 2010, James Franco was included in the casts of the Rise of the Planet Apes, which is set to release on in August 5, 2011. He is also set to appear in the forthcoming Broadway of Sweet bird of Youth, together with the star of Nicole Kidman.
