The 34-year-old American singer and song-writer was born on June 23, 1977 in Mechanicsville, Virginia to Tom and June Mraz. Jason grew up in Mechanicsville and has a Czech descent. His last name is of Czech origin, which stands for Frost. Mraz is famously known for wearing a red hat that is tipped to the right.  He is living a health-conscious lifestyle and he is enjoying eating mostly raw vegan foods. In addition, Mraz owns an avocado farm, which is located in the Oceanside in Northern San Diego County. On the other hand, Mraz is an active supporter of various charities such as the VH1’s Save The Music Foundatiio and the MusiCares as well as the foundation called, Free the Children.

Jason Mraz entered the Lee-Davis High School in Mechanicsville and as a teenager, Mraz always involved in local theater with the School of the Performing Arts in the Richmond Community. After completing his High School year in 1995, Mraz entered the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City, where he had a brief study of musical theater. After taking up the guitar, Mraz left the school for him to concentrate more on writing songs and he even started performing at the world well-known Java Joes.

In year 2001, Jason Mraz released his live acoustic album entitled, Live at Java Joe’s. The said album featured the free-lancing voice style of Mraz. Some of the songs he lately released are 1000 Thing, You and I Both and Halfway Home. On the following year, Mraz unleashed his first ever major-label album called, Waiting for My Rocket to Come, which is commercially successful. The album landed on the 55th spot of the Billboard Hot 200 and took the number two spot of the Top Heatseekers Chart.

In year 2005, Mraz released his second major-label album called, Mr. A-Z, for the Atlantic records. The album landed on the number five spot of the Billboard 200 album chart. The album garnered a nomination for the Grammy Award for the category of Best Engineered Album and Non Classical. One of the tracks of the album entitled, Life is Wonderful, was featured in one of the hotel commercials of the renowned Hilton Journeys Hotel in year 2006. In August 2010, Jason Mraz had a Question and Answer interview with the Spin magazine, when he was asked on the possible titled for his upcoming fourth album; he stated that the possible titles are, Peace Canoe and The Love Album. Also, in year 2010Mraz was featured in one of the singles of Hope entitled, Love, Love, Love.

In his personal life, Jason Mraz became engaged with the singer-songwriter, Tristan Prettyman on December 24, 2010. Mraz said that he will not be tying the knot until the time comes that gay marriage will be permitted. On the other hand, Mraz stated on one of his interviews that he and Prettyman were no longer engaged.
