The 29-year-old Canadian actor, who had a victorious career when it comes to comedy films, was born on April 9, 1982 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, to Robyne and Serge Baruchel, a freelance writer and an antiques dealer. He grew up and lives in the Notre-Dame-de-Grace of Montreal, Quebec. Baruchel has a younger sister named Taylor and his father was a half Sephardic Jewish and a Half French Catholic ancestry while his mother was an Irish Catholic ancestry.
Baruchel’s one of major acting roles was on the TV series entitled, My Hometown, in year 1996. Form year 1997-1998, Baruchel co-hosted the Canadian children’s TV series called, Popular Mechanics for Kids, alongside the actress of Elisha Cuthbert. After he made an appearance in the Award winning musical comedy drama film of Almost Famous, Baruchel earned the role of Steven Karp on the short lived TV series of Judd Apatow entitled, Undeclared, which also includes the stars of Seth Rogen, Carla Gallo, Charlie Hunnam and Monica Keena. He subsequently portrayed the role of Harry in the comedy film of The Rules of Attraction, which starred James ban der Beek and Shannyn Sossamon.
In year 2004, Baruchel was included in the Clint Eastwood entitled, Million Dollar Baby, where he portrayed the role of Danger Barch. He then appeared in the films of Nemesis Game and Fetching Cody. In year 2005, Baruchel appeared in the TV drama of WB network entitled, Just Legal, together with Don Johnson. On the following year, he appeared as a guest star on the TV series of CBS called, Numb3rs. He then appeared in various films such as Knocked Up, which starred Seth Rogen and Katherine Heigl. He also appeared in the films of I’m Reed Fish, Just Buried and the directorial film Ben Stiller entitled, Tropic Thunder, which also includes the star of Jack Black, Nick Nolte, Steve Coogan and Robert Downey.
In year 2007, he then again starred together with Seth Rogen in the comedy film of Jay and Seth vs. The Apocalypse, which has been created by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. On the following year, he appeared in the romantic comedy film of Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist. He also made a short appearance in the Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian. In year 2010, Baruchel was included in the casts of the films like The Trotsky and She’s Out of My League, together with the star of Alice Eve. On the same year, he portrayed a supporting role in the comedy series dhow of The Drunk and On Drugs Happy Fun Time Hour.
In his personal life, Jay Baruchel is engaged with his long term partner Alison Pill, making their engagement public, when he honored his fiancé in one of his acceptance speech in the Genie Awards I the Ottawa, Canada. In addition, Baruchel is an enthusiast of the ice hockey team called, Montreal Canadiens.
