Jenna Dewan is an American actress and model, who is most notable for the portrayal in the film of Step Up and Tamara. She was born on December 3, 1980 in Hartford, Connecticut, to Nancy Lee and Darryll Dewan. She has a half Lebanese ancestry and was baptized with the real name of Jenna Lee Dewan. Her father and mother divorced when she was young and her mother married again to Claude Brooks Smith. Dewan attended the Grapevine High School in Grapevine Texas, where she became a varsity cheerleader and then won in several dance competition awards. Dewan graduated in year 1999 and was crowned as the prom queen on her senior year. Dewan headed to USC and became one of the members of the California Gamma Chapter of the Pi Beta Phi.
On the other hand, before Dewan appeared in several films, she was a dancer, working for several performers like Clinton Troupe and ‘N Sync as well as Sean Combs and Toni Braxton and Celine Dion. She also worked with Pink and Missy Elliot, Ricky Martin and Billy Crawford. She has also toured together with Janet Jackson for her All for You tour. Dewan was also featured in the music video of Christina Aguilera’s single entitled, Not Myself Tonight. On her acting career,Dewan portrayed small roles in the films like The Hot Chick and in the Grudge 2. She also appeared in Dark Shadows and Waterborne. In addition, she appeared as a guest star in the TV series of Quintuplets and The Young and Restless as well in the TV series called, Joey.
In year 2005, Dewan portrayed the lead role in the horror film called, Tamara. On the following year, she portrayed the role of Nora Clark in the dance romance film of Step Up, which also starred Channing Tatum. The film grossed a total amount of $114,194,847 worldwide. Dewan subsequently starred in another dance-themed film entitled, Take The Lead, where she portrayed the role of Sasha, together wit Antonio Banderas and Rob Brown. In year 2008, she portrayed the lead role of Amber in the film called, Love Lies Bleeding. She was also featured in the TV film of Fab Five: the Texas Cheerleader Scandal, where she portrayed the role of Emma Carr.
Moreover, Dewan starred together with Rob Schneider in the 2009 comedy film of American Virgin. Her portrayal on the said film followed by a role in the comedy film entitled, the Six Wives of Henry Lefay, which also includes Elisha Cuthberth. On the following year, she appeared again with Josh Handerson in The Jerk Theory. On the other hand, Dewan has also signed on to portray the role of Kendra Wilson in a two-episode arc in the 2009 reboot of the Melrose Place in The CW network.
