Jennie Garth is not just an actress but a director as well. She earned wide recognition for the portrayal of Kelly Taylor in Beverly Hills, 90210, TV series. She was born on April 3, 1972 in Urbana, Illinois, to Carolyn Garth and John Garth. She was baptized with the real name of Jennifer Eve Garth. Garth together with her family, relocated to Tuscola, Illinois and when she reached the age of 13, the family moved to Glendale Arizona, where she took dancing lessons and modeling as well. Her talent then led her to join various competitions. In one of the competitions she joined, the talent scout named, Randy James, discovered her. In addition, Garth entered the Greenway High School and the Apollo High School for her sophomore level. As an aspiring actress, Garth left the school when she was currently on her junior year, worked in Los Angeles together with James. She then started on attending acting classes joining several auditions.
On the other hand, Garth had her first break in the TV series called, Growing Pains, where she portrayed the role of Denise. She then appeared in six of the episodes of the series show called, A Brand New Life. Garth was one of the people who auditioned for a role in the TV series called, Saved by the Bell. Unfortunately, Garth failed to earn the spot, defeating by the actress, Tiffani Thiessen. In year 1990, Garth’s big break came, appearing in the TV series of Beverly Hills, 90210, where she portrayed the role of Kelly Taylor. She appeared on the said series until it ended in year 2000, along with the stars of Tori Spelling, Brian Austin Green and Ian Ziering. Her portrayal on Beverly Hills show brought her a Young Artist Award as well as a nomination for a Teen Choice Award. her successful portrayal on the series led her to appear in various TV films, which also includes the Danielle Steel’s Star and the TV film called, An Unfinished Affair.
Having an ‘almost perfect figure’, Garth took the 59th spot in FHM’s list for the 100 Sexiest Women in year 2000 and on the following year, she landed in the 93 spot of the magazine’s the same list. On the other hand, Garth collaborated with Will Calhoun and Dan Schneider in the TV series entitled, What I like About You, where she portrayed the role of Valerie ‘Val’ Tyler, alongside Amanda Bynes. On the following year, she appeared in the TV films of The Last Cowboy and in Secret Santa, which earned her the 2004 CAMIE Award. Garth was included in the ensemble of the 2007 TV film called, Girl, Positive, where she portrayed the role of a teacher who was diagnosed with HIV. Her portrayal on the said TV film, garnered her and her co-star, Andrea Bowen, a Prism Award.
On the same year, Garth joined the reality show of Dancing with the Stars, where she was paired with the professional dancer, Derek Hough. In year 2008, Garth reprised her role as Kelly Taylor in the spin-off series of the CW Network, called, 90210. On the same year, Garth was also featured in the game show of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?, where she won $100,000 for her chosen charity The American Heart Association. On the following year, Garth portrayed the role of Natasha in the web series of Candace Bushnell entitled, The Broadroom. In year 2010, she also starred in another web series of NBC Universal entitled, Garden Party. In addition, Garth starred in the 2011 film called, Accidentally in Love, where she portrayed the lead role of Annie Benchley together with Ethan Erickson. She is set to appear in the upcoming film of A Christmas Wedding Tail.
