Jennifer Hudson has lost so much weight; she looks nearly unrecognizable from her former self. Grammy and Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson graces Good Housekeeping’s February cover, on newsstands January 10. In the interview, the singer/actress reveals the secrets to her 80-pound weight loss, and opens up about her 2-year-old son David. She said that early on, she remembers one of the musical directors telling her that everything about her was too big – her voice, her size and her personality. Hudson said she asked the director isn’t that what being a star is adding that stars are larger than life.
Hudson said that her son inspired her to get healthy. According to her, everything changed the day her son, David Jr., was born adding that motherhood bring tremendous responsibilities but none greater than the obligation she felt to get healthy and be there for her son. She said that David deserved to have a mama who could run after him without getting winded or getting tired, to have a role model who could teach him to make healthy food choices. She said that she need him to grow up with a mama who always would be there for him by caring enough about herself to take control of her health and her eating.
According to Hudson, her son, David, has never known her overweight and if he sees a clip of the old Jennifer from Dreamgirls, he does not know who it is. Even though she has basically lost a lot of weight, Jennifer said that she still has her food cravings. According to her, she will find a calm, peaceful moment to sit back and eat her chocolate which she makes sure is really good quality too noting quality over quantity. On her son’s affinity for green vegetables, Hudson said that it is the cutest thing thinking that it is really working. She laughs about an occasion when the two of them were watching TV and all he wanted to do was lie in her lap and eat cookies. But now he knows his limits, Hudson said noting that he sees her example and knows that he is going to get two not the whole box.
Apparently Jennifer Hudson told a reporter on the Oscar red carpet that cutting carbs was part of the secret to her weight loss. According to her, she just made sure that she stuck on her weight watchers adding that she also took the extra mile to delete the carbs. Of course, almost any time a person cuts calories, they are going to be cutting carbs as part of that, and it has been argued that this probably enhances the weight loss. But it sounds as though Ms. Hudson focused on cutting back on carbs. She is reported to have said that she made sure that when she felt the need to eat something crunchy she ate nuts instead and stayed away from the carbs.
As her new 2011 ad as a size-6 bombshell continues to wow onlookers, consider her rollercoaster weight loss journey through the years. While no one can say how much weight Jennifer lost with Weight Watchers, it is clear that diet and exercise or a lack thereof are the keys to losing, gaining, and maintaining a healthy weight.
