James “Jim” Broadbent is an English actor, who is most notable for the portrayal in the film of Iris, was born on May 24, 1949 in Lincoln, to Doreen Broadbent and Roy Laverick Broadbent, a sculptor and an interior designer and a furniture maker. His mother and father were both an amateur actors, who co-established the Hilton Players acting troupe at the Hilton cum Beckering. Broadbent entered the Leighton Park School as well as a Quaker School in Reading/ he also attended tan art college before he transferred to the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, where he graduated in year 1972.
Broadbent first worked on stage, which includes the several stage productions for The National Theater of Brent, where he portrayed the role of the downtrodden assistant Wallace to the character played by Patrick Barlow. He and Barlow portrayed various male and female roles in the comically less-than-heroic telling of historical and religious tales like The Messiah, the Complete Guide to Sex and The Greatest Story Ever Told as well as Revolution! And All the World’s A Globe. He also appeared in the stage production for Kafkas’Dick in year 1986 and the 1988 Our Country’s Good, held at the Royal Court Theater and also work for the Royal National Theater, which also includes the productions called, The Government Inspector. Broadbent also worked together with Mike Leigh on stage with the production for Gossepimples and Ecstasy.
In year 1978, Broadbent landed to his first film work, portraying a small role in the British film directed by Jerzy Skolimowski entitled, The Shout. He subsequently made his TV debut on the following year. he collaborated with Stephen Fears fro TV as well as for the 1984 film called, The Hit. He also worked with Terry Gilliam I the 1981 fantasy film of Time Bandits and in the films of Brazil and the Crying Game in year 1992. Broadbent also appeared in the 1992 film adaptation of the book of Elizabeth von Arnim entitled, Enchanted April, where he portrayed the role of Frederick Arbuthnot.
Boradbent voiced the character of Madame Gasket in the 2005 animated comedy film of Robots, which garnered him an award. He then portrayed the role f DCI Roy Slater in the BBC TV series show called, Only Fools and Horses. Broadbent then portrayed the title role in the drama series show or Channel 4 entitled Longford on October 2006, garnered him a BAFTA TV Award, a Golden Globe and a 2007 Emmy nomination for his portrayal as Frank Pakenham. He also portrayed the role of Frank Butterman in the 2007 film called, Hot Fuzz. On the following year, he starred in the drama for the BBC network called, Einstein and Eddinglon. He also voiced for the role of Major Mouse in a series of radio adverts in year 2010. He also portrayed the role of Logan Mountstuart in the TV adaptation of the book of Any Human Heart. He also portrayed the lead role in the BBC One drama of Exile, which also includes the star of John Simm.
