James Joseph “Jim” Parsons is an American actor, who is most notable for the portrayal of Sheldon Cooper in the CBS sitcom of The Big Bang Theory. Parsons was born on March 24, 1973 in Houston, Texas, where he was also raised and the older of the two children. Parsons entered the Klein Oak High School in Spring, Texas, which is a northern suburb of Houston. After he graduated in high school, Parsons earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Houston. Parsons was also one of the founding members of the Infernal Bridegroom Productions and is frequently appeared at the Stages Repertory Theater. He attended the University of San Diego in year 1999 and one of the seven students, who were accepted into a special two-year course in classical theater, taught in partnership with the Old Globe Theater. He graduated in year 2001 and then relocated to New York.
He subsequently worked in Off Broadway productions and then made various TV appearances. He also appeared in the 2003 well-discussed Quiznos Commercial, where he portrayed a man who was raised by wolves. He also had a recurring role in the on the TV show of Judging Amy and has also appeared in the TV series called, Ed. He also had a small role in various films like in the 2004 comedy-drama film of Garden State, where he portrayed the role of Tim. On the other hand, Parsons has estimated that he already auditioned for over 30 TV pilots. The exception came with the American sitcom called, The Big Bang Theory. He read the pilot script for the sitcom and after that, Parsons felt that the role of Sheldon Cooper would be perfectly fit for him. Even though the actor did not feel any kind of relationship with the character, he was still captivated by the script sequence.
Iin Parson’s audition, he amazed the creator of the said series Chuck Loore, who persist him on having a second audition for him to see if the actor could reproduce the performance. He then earned the role, which has been described as a genius physicist with nonexistent social skills who act together with his other genius friends. In addition, parsons gave credits to the University of San Diego training with providing him the right instrument to break down his Sheldon’s dialogues. On August 2009, Parsons took home the Television Critics Association award for Individual achievement in comedy, leaving off behind the stars of Alec Baldwin, Tuna Fey and Steve Carrell as well as Neil Patrick Harris. He was also nominated for the Emmy Awards in year 2009 and 2010, earning the 2010 award for the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. On the following year, Parsons and the stars of Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco had all signed for new contracts. In January 2011, Parsons earned the Golden Globe Award for the Best
Actor in a Television Series- Comedy. The award was presented by his co-star Kaley Cuoco.
