Joely Richardson is an English actress, who is most notable for the portrayal of Queen Catherine Parr in the TV series called, the Tudors as well as in her portrayal of Julia McNamara in the drama entitled, Nip/Tuck. Richardson was born on January 9, 1965 in London, to Vanessa Redgrave and Tony Richardson, an actress and a film director. She was baptized with the real name of Joely Kim Ricahrdson and has a sister named Natasha Richardson, who was also an actress like her. At the young age of three, Richardson started her professional acting career by appearing as an extrea n the 1968 rendition of The Charge of the Light Brigade, which has directed by her own father. In addition, Richardson attended the Independent St. Paul’s Girl’s School in Hammersmith, together with her sister Natashia.
At the young age of 14, Richardson transferes to a boarding school at the Independent Harry Hopman Tennis School, which is located at Tampa, Florida. In year 1983, Richardson graduated from The Thacher School in Ojai, California. She then made her return to London for her to study at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. As she wanted to be a professional tennis player, Richardson entered a tennis academy in Florida for not less than two years. However, she still made her comeback in with her acting profession when she had a role in the 1985 film of Wetherby. On the other hand, Richardson had her first major film role in the 1989 TV episode of Potrot, whhcih was initially based on Agatha Cristie’s detective series.
Richardson was also included in the casts of the 1989 episode of Jim Henson entitled, the Storyteller. She also appeared in the series shoe of Bahaving Badly and in the comedy of King Ralph. Richardson also appeared together with the star of Liam Neeson in Shining Through, Moreover, in year 1993, she also appeared in the BBC’s series called, Lady Chatterley, together with Sean Bean. In year 1996, she also appeared in the live-action remake of the Disney channel in the animated film entitled, 101 Dalmatians, together with Cruella de Vil. Richardson also appeared in the film of the Patriot, together with Mel Gibson. On the other hand, in year 2000, Richardson starred together with Hugh Laurie in Maybe Baby,
She then portrayed the role of Julia McNamara in the TV drama of Nip/Tuck, her mother has also appeared in some of the episodes of the said show. In year 200, she portrayed one of the lead roles in Lies My Mother Told Me and in year 2007, she appeared with Timothy Huttonand Chris O’Neil in The Last Minzy. In addition, Richardson also starred in the TV drama of Wallis & Edward. In year 2009, it was reported that she was included in the casts of the fourth season of the drama series of The Tudors, portraying the role of Queen Catherine Parr. Richardson is set to appear in the upcoming film adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
