Jude Law is an English actor, who is already appeared in several films such as The Crane and The Marshal as well as in Alfie. Law was born on December 29, 1972 in Lewisham, South London, to Margaret Anne and Peter Robert Law, who were both teachers. He was baptized with the real name of David Jude Heyworth Law and has a sister named Natasha. In addition, it was said that Law was named after a ‘bit of both’ the book called, Jude the Obscure as well as the song titled, Hey Jude. Law grew up in the Blackheath, which is an area in the Borough of Lewishma. Law entered the John Ball Primary School in Blackheath. He also attended the Kidbrroke School before he entered the Alleyn’s School in London, England.
In year 1987, Law started his professional career in acting with the National Youth Music Theater. He already portrayed several roles in the Edinburgh Fringe-play called, the Raggerd Child. On the other hand, he portrayed the role of Faxtrot Darling, one of his major stage roles in The Fastest Clock in The Universe of Philip Ridley. He then went on to have an appearance in the West End production called, les Parents Terribles, where he portrayed the role of Michael. For his portrayal on the said play, he earned a nomination for a Laurence Olivier Award in the category for the Outstanding Newcomer, and has earned an Ian Charleson Award for the outstanding New Comer also.
In year 1997, Law gained much attention when he portrayed the role of Lord Alfred ‘Bosie’ Douglas in the biographical film called, Wilde, which also includes the stars of Stephen Fry and Tom Wilkinson. For his portrayal on the said film, he received the Most Promising Newcomer Award from the Evening Standard British Film Awards. He then portrayed the role of Jerome Eugene Morrow in the science fiction film of Gattaca, together with Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke. He also appeared in the film called, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. In year 2001, he was included in the casts of the war film of Enemy at the Gates, where he portrayed the lead role of Vassili Zaitsev, together with Ed Harris and Rachel Weisz.
On the other hand, Law starred together with Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie in 2004 film of Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. In year 2007, Law appeared in the films of Sleuth and in the romantic drama film of My Blueberry Nights. In year 2009, he portrayed the role of Dr. John Watson in the film of Sherlock Holmes. On the following year, he appeared the film called, Repo Men, where he portrayed the role of Remy or also known as the Repo man. In year 2011, he appeared as Alan Krumwiede in the film called, Contagion. On the same year, he also appeared in the film entitled, Hugo. Lawis set to star in the films of Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows and Rise of the Guardians.
