Julie Benz is an American actress, who is most notable for the portrayal of Darla in the TV series called, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She was born on May 1, 1972 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She together with her family settled in nearby Murrysville when she was at the young age of two. She then started ice skating when she reached the age of three and competed in the 1988 U.S Championships in junior ice dancing together with her skating partner David Schilling, landed on the 13th place. At the young age of 14, Benz had a stress fractures on her right leg, which immediately led her to have a break. In addition, Benz grew up in Murrysville and entered the Franklin Regional High School. At the age of 15, Benz’s acting coach told her that she would never be an actress, she said that it is the best thing that ever happened to me, this also considered her stepping stone to be an actress.
In year 1989, when she had her figure skating career over, Benz became involved in local theater, appearing in the play called, Street Law. On the other hand, her first film role was in The Black Cat segment of the Dario Argento/George A. Romero film entitled, The Evil Eyes in year 1990. On the following year, she was appeared in the TV show called, Hi Honey, I’m Home. However, the show has been pulled out after two seasons. After Benz graduated in high school, she attended the New York University and took acting. After her graduation, she relocated to Los Angeles and had a small part in the 1994 episode of Married with Children. She then starred in the other unaired TV pilot of Empire in year 1995. In addition, her other TV shows includes the TV series called, Hang Time and High Tide as well as in Step by Step. She then appeared in the TV film called, The Barefoot Executive and also had an uncredited role in the 1996 comedy film of Black Sheep and also appeared in the drama series entitled, Diagnosis: Murder as well as in the TV series of Sliders and The Single Guy.
She also portrayed the role of Christy in the TV film of called, Herts Adrift and also appeared as Julie Falcon in the science fiction film of Darkdrive. She also appeared as a guest star in the TV show called, She Spies as well as in the miniseries of Taken. She also appeared in the short film of The Midget Stay in the Picture. She also starred in the 2009 film of Uncorked, where she portrayed the role of Johnny Prentiss. On the following year, she appeared as Stephanie Powell in the pilot called, No Ordinary Family. In year 2011, she was included in the casts of the CBS TV show entitled, A Gifted Man. In addition, she is set to appear in the TV film of Ricochet, where she will be portraying the role of Elise Laird.
