As she is in the midst of promoting “New Year’s Eve” ahead of its December 9th release date, Katherine Heigl landed herself the cover of the January 2012 issue of ELLE magazine. The 33-year-old actress posed for a classy spread shot by photographer Carter Smith while offering up a candid interview that touches on topics including her career, her family balancing her busy life, her desire to be liked by everyone and moving to Los Angeles with her mother, Nancy.
Speaking about her public perception, the 33-year-old actress admits that she has never managed to truly be America’s sweetheart. She explains the reason in the cover story for Elle. According to her, she never really been America’s sweetheart noting that she had it for a second thinking maybe she was and then she opened her mouth and it was very clear she was not. She said that there is so much of her mother’s caustic, sarcastic, irreverent take on things but she also love and embrace it. Still, Heigl is not sorry for anything she said since she was just telling the truth. However, the only thing she regrets is for having said it aloud. She confessed that she looked at some of what she had to say and she would tell herself to shut up too.
Asked on how does a celebrity manage to have a balanced life in such a hectic world, Heigl said that she take a stress relief formula from Whole Foods noting that she calls them her happy pills. According to her, it helps her and in fact, she should have taken one that day. The actress claimed that she done it to herself adding that she has created a chaotic life and then she get on edge because of it. Even though Heigl became mostly famous for her role in ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, you should know that she is a 20-year veteran in the film industry. She grew up in Connecticut and in 1996 she and her mother, Nancy, moved out West. According to Heigl, the first five or six years in L.A. were hard noting that she does not know anybody. She claimed that she does not meet people going on auditions, because everyone is competing. So it was just her and her mom. She said that they watched a lot of Golden Girls and they made dream journals and read The Artist’s Way.
Well, Hollywood life can sometimes be rather challenging and difficult. On dealing with the demands of Hollywood, the actress confesses that she overdramatize and she think everything is at stake — her life, her career, her family, everything is at stake if this movie does not do well. Speaking about bad press and how much she just wants to be liked, Katherine told Elle that she think it is a female thing noting that she is just that a**hole who really wants everyone to like her, and it is a ridiculous goal and it is an impossible goal. She added that she however think that if she keep pushing forward and showing herself through and through, they will see her again for what she really am and not what has been sort of spun about her.
