Katy Perry looks more glamorous than ever in a stunning black and white photo shoot for the March issue of Interview magazine. Maybe it’s the fact that she’s channeling Amy Winehouse that actually gives her some more character or maybe it’s the black and white graininess, but these are more than pictures, they’re works of art.

The 27-year-old channels old Hollywood in the series of sexy burlesque inspired shots. She may be known for her love of bright colours, but Katy Perry has shown off a new more grown up look as she leaves her pop art image behind. One image shows the pop star standing in a silver beaded dress as she poses with her hands, clad in opera gloves, behind her head. In another raunchier photograph the brunette sits backwards on a chair, showing off fishnet tights and wearing long bejewelled gloves. She shows a different side of herself in the photo shoot with thick, winged black eyeliner, pale lips and tousled, bedhead hair. On the cover of the magazine, Katy appears to be wearing nothing more than a studded, sequinned bra, long, black gloves and chandelier earrings.

In an interview with the magazine the singer spoke about how her break-up will affect the songs she writes. She told the publication that her music is going to become ‘dark’ since her split from Russell. According to Perry, her music is about get real f****** dark and she will be shoe gazing. She added that people will never see her face because her hair is in her face. It comes after her ex husband Russell Brand has stepped out with his new girlfriend just two months after they announced their divorce. Though the 27-year-old has a fabulous figure, she is better known for being quirky than seductive. This new look might be indicative of the singer’s current state of mind: she is bold, brave and nothing is going to break her.

The singer recently released the single “Part of Me,” a breakup anthem which is currently topping the Billboard charts. A sample of the lyrics include: “This is the part of me that you’re never gonna ever take away from me, throw your bombs and your blows but you’re not gonna break my soul.” However, Katy has revealed that the song is not about Russell, as she said, she wrote “Part of Me” two years ago and she always knew “Part of Me” was a special song. According to the singer, it feels like her life was out with those songs and she feels like she is in some kind of weird Truman Show where she is like asking why is that single appropriate now and it would not have been appropriate then. The singer continued saying that it is just so crazy. The Blue-haired star added that she guess the universe is kind of – we’re kind of like, dancing together in some weird way. She then asked if that make sense or is she being too hippie. According to Perry, she thinks it is really important for her to write songs that are still honest and relatable because that is what everyone else is going through. She’s going to need to rely on that same inner strength even more intensely now that her ex-husband has finally been photographed with his new girlfriend.

Russell Brand filed for divorce from Katy Perry after just 14 months of marriage citing “irreconcilable differences.”  The couple wed in a lavish ceremony in India on October 23, 2010.  They met at the MTV Music Awards in September 2009.

According to reports, Russell Brand is set to make up to £20million from his divorce from wife Katy Perry.  The comedian is in line for the huge lump sum in a 50/50 split of the couple’s earnings even after just more than a year of marriage.  Brand, 36, and Perry, 27, did not sign a pre-nuptial agreement when they married in October 2010 so under Californian law, he could be entitled to half of her fortune.  The Star reported that according to Forbes Magazine, Perry is worth £28million, a fortune that industry insiders said has rocked recently to at least £45million due to her non-stop touring and commercial ventures.  Brand, in contrast, has a net worth of about £11million from his stand-up tours and a string of movies including Get Him to the Greek and the remake of the Dudley Moore film Arthur.

Brand announces on Friday that the couple’s marriage was over after they spent Christmas apart.  While Brand released a statement about the separation, as of press time, Perry had yet to speak about it.  Speaking to the Daily Star on Sunday outside The Savoy Hotel in London, he said that he is doing good adding that everything is going better by 2012.  Dressed in a grey jumper and leather jacket, the star made a low-key exit from the hotel with his face hidden by dark sunglasses and a woolen hat.

Other reports have hinted that Brand and Perry threatened each other with divorce several times recently after a string of arguments.  A former aide of the pair said that she believed that the filing of this divorce was as childish as many of their arguments noting that it was a case of “I’m dumping you before you can dump me”, a total pride thing.  The aide added that she does not think that Russell liked that Katy was the bigger star explaining that he would pick her to pieces over the most trivial things.  It has also been claimed that Brand is now considering moving back to England in the wake of the split.

Meanwhile, Katy Perry has been invited to stay with Rihanna in Barbados following her split from Russell Brand.  The 23-year-old singer, who organized Perry’s hen’s night before her wedding to comedian Brand, is said to have reached out to the star in the wake of the news that their marriage had come to an end.  A source said that Katy is hardly speaking to anyone right now, but she called Rihanna as soon as she heard Russell was filing for divorce.  According to the source, Katy was embarrassed about calling her parents as they had been so against Russell in the first place, but Rihanna was a great support for her and she really helped to calm her down.

Katy Perry’s run of No.1 singles has earned her the distinction of becoming MTV’s first artist of the year.  Perry had a huge year in 2011.  The singer’s album Teenage Dream had five number one singles.  She also appeared in the movie, “The Smurfs,” hosted “Saturday Night Live” and won MTV’s Music Video of the Year award for her “Firework” video.  Katy Perry said that she was not really allowed to watch MTV growing up, so that feels really validating.  She said that she has had a fantastic year, a great tour and a great run, noting that her fans has been so a part of it and such a big reason why.  Perry thanked her fans saying that she really appreciate it.

Perry topped Adele after a spirited discussion among MTV’s internal panel of experts, the network said Thursday.  Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep” was chosen top song of 2011, said Amy Doyle, the network’s chief of music programming.  MTV also declared Skrillex its electronic dance music artist of the year over David Guetta.  Different parts of MTV would make best of lists in the past but the network wanted to establish a franchise that brought all its online and TV arms together and emphasized MTV’s music roots, Doyle said.  The network, established in 1981, hopes it becomes an annual thing.

Seven panelists made the final choice, and their deliberations were featured in MTV programming this week.  Doyle said that “Rolling in the Deep” was an obvious selection as top song.  Runners-up were Nicki MInaj’s “Super Bass” and Rihanna’s “We Found Love.”  Adele said that she loved the song the moment she wrote it adding that the melody and the beat added some conviction to it.  She said that she thinks that is why people connected with it.  Doley said that Perry’s achievement of trying Michael Jackson’s “Bad” as the only albums to yield five No.1 singles was particularly impressive along with the title cut, “California GUrls,” “E.T.,” “Firework” and “Last Friday Night” (T.G.I.F.) all top the charts.  He added that Perry has been trying to beat the record with the current single “The One That Got Away.”  Doyle said that you just really felt her presence in pop culture throughout the year.

Skrillex, whose real name is Sonny Moore, describes his music as a combination of “dubstep, electro and glitch.” MTV included the category of best electronic dance music artist to pay tribute to the way the style is taking off with its young viewers.  MTV also asked its viewers to vote on their choice of the best live performances shown on MTV all year.  Their choice was “Hurricane” by Thirty Seconds to Mars.

CBS reports that Perry’s success at the MTV awards could lead to a couple of Grammys.  Perry was just nominated for two Grammy awards.  She will be hoping to take home the award for best record of the year and best pop solo performance for “Firework.”

Speculations about the state of marriage of Singer Katy Perry and her husband Russell Brand has been circulating in the news sites since the two are barely seen together in recent months kept apart by busy work schedules.  However, the couple was reportedly planning a romantic trip back to where they tied the know in a bid to spice up their relationship.  The couple are said to be returning to India, where they got married in October last year.

According to a report in the Sunday Mirror comedy actor Russell has booked a holiday to the Aman New Dehli Hotel in the New Year to get their marriage back on track.  They have spent months apart due to their relentless work schedules.  Russell has been working on back-to-back film projects since the summer while Katy has been traveling around the globe on her California Dreams tour.

Things have reportedly become so strained that friends have started to fear the worst for their relationship.  A source close to Katy revealed to the Sunday Mirror: ‘As part of Katy’s birthday present last week Russell booked a trip to the Aman resort in New Delhi for New Year.  Katy’s schedule is jam-packed right until the end of the year.  ‘They plan to spend Christmas in Britain with Russell’s mum and then fly to India on holiday.  Russell and Katy have both agreed that the time they spend apart has been extremely tough and that they need to spend quality time away so that they can re-connect as a couple.

Last week they were spotted ­riding their bikes near their £1.68million pad in TriBeCa, New York – Katy’s 27th birthday providing an excuse for her to take a break from touring to spend time with her husband.  It is said that the weekend in New York inspired the couple’s trip away to India, making them realize how distant they would become.

The luxurious Aman New Delhi is described on its website as a contemporary oasis of sophisticated calm providing extensive recreation, meeting and leisure facilities.   A two-room pool suite costs just over £1,000-per-night, and other facilities at the hotel include three tennis courts, three squash courts, a pilates studio and a gym.  The on-site spa offers a multitude of treatments, and there is a golf course to the north of the plush hotel.

In July this year the couple were forced to defend themselves against claims their relationship was on the rocks.  Katy Perry took to her Twitter account to say that just because the couple kept their relationship private, it does not mean there was trouble in paradise.  In an attempt to put the rumors to rest, she wrote on her twitter page saying just because they do not flaunt their relationship does not mean there is something wrong with it noting that privacy is luxury.  Her tweet came as it was claimed earlier this month that the pair were considering a trial separation in a bid to keep their relationship on the right track.  The couple has been plagued with reports their marriage is not working ever since they tied the knot last October after a whirlwind one-year long-distance romance.

Katy Perry, 26, was spotted on an early Halloween get up as she posted some of her pictures on her twitter page.  “Be honest with me, do I look tired?” she tweeted. “Scariest night of my life!  @knottsberryfarm BOO!”  The pop star was unrecognizable on her skeleton face paint along with her casual black striped sweater and shoulder-long hair as she visited California theme park, Knotts ‘Scary’ Farm on Sunday along with his funnyman husband Russell Brand and a couple of friends.  While her clothes were casual and mundane, her face was not.  Katy’s friends are all behind the sinister face as they make their way to the theme park on October 9.  Actually, we are not sure who is Russel among those in the picture.  Looks like the group had a good time.

A staff on the amusement park shared on his Tumblr account that Katy jokingly asked his co-worker to kiss her.   Since the latter has no idea, of whom she was and apparently horrified with her frightening appearing appearance, the staff turned down the offer.  Missing out a chance of a lifetime, the theme park’s supervisor called him an idiot.

“Last night Katy Perry and Russell Brand went on Xcelerator 8 I got to see them and talk to them, they had their faces painted so they couldn’t be noticed,” the staff stated. “Katy asked one of my coworkers to make out with her but he didn’t know it was her so he turned it down, my supervisor called him an idiot hahaha. (sic)”  Halloween is still a couple of weeks away but celebrities are already dressing up and holding parties.

Wonder how the blithe delivery of the ghoulish mug was made?  This is exactly how we’d do it. Snug it up in some toasty layers, hair all NBD-style, hands on hips and what looks like some very respectable shading on the neck and temples, hollowed-out eye sockets, cracks from being dead and then exhumed and nailing a legitimately cute costume that has NOTHING to do with the whole snoresville, “SLUT ANESTHESIOLOGIST” or “NAUGHTY CIVIL WAR REENACTMENT PERSON” or “SEXY MARU THE BOX-LOVING CAT” bag. Katy looks differently from her glamorous looks two weeks ago when she performed at the Pepsi Musical Festival in Buenos Aires.  She donned a black wig covering her recently dyed pink locks, and a puffy blue dress.  The singer is going to perform in London this week for the Sunday elimination of Xfactor show, following Cee Lo Green and last year’s sinner Matt Cardle’s performances this week.  Katy Perry or Katherine Elizabeth Hudson become one of the well-known artists in the music industry after her single “I Kissed a Girl” make it on top of the international charts which is then followed by numerous singles in her album “One of the Boys” and  “Teenage Dream.”

Born as Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson on October 25, 1984 by Christian pastor parents, Katy Perry grew up listening to only gospel music and sang in her local church as a child. As a matter of fact, she was incorporated into her parents’ ministry and sang in their church between the ages nine and seventeen. In an exclusive interview with MTV, she said that she was raised in a very pseudo-strict religious household where the only thing on the menu was Oh Happy Day, His Eye is on the Sparrow and Amazing Grace.

At the age of 15, the half-German and half-Portuguese singer-songwriter who was then singing in their church attracted the attention of rock veterans from Nashville, Tennessee and offered to help her polish her songwriting skills. Young Katy eventually changed her surname to Perry, which is her mother’s maiden name, because Katy Hudson was too close to film actress Kate Hudson. Although the album was later shelved, her remarkable talent caught the attention of the music press who named her as The Next Big Thing.

In 2007, Perry scored a record deal with Capital Record and ditched her Christian fan base for mainstream stardom with her pop debut album, One of the Boys. Her first official lead single I Kissed the Girl, which was released on May 2008, became a commercial success. In fact, it peaked at number one spot for seven weeks on the Billboard Hot 100. It also became a major worldwide hit, topping charts in 30 countries, including Australia, Canada and United Kingdom.

In 2010, Guinness Book of World Records recognized Perry in its 2010 version as the Best Start on the US Digital Chart by a Female Artist. In the summer of 2008 after her break up with Travis McCoy, she met British comedian Russell Brand when she filmed a cameo for Brand’s film Get Him to the Greek.

In 2009, the two took their new romance public and three months later, Brand orchestrated a special New Year surprise in India where he asked her to marry him with a ring hidden in flowers. On October 23, 2010, the two got married in a traditional Hindu ceremony in India, the same location where Brand had proposed.
