The American R&B singer-songwriter was born on December 5, 1982 in Decatur, Georgian. At the young age of 12, Hilson entered the Tucker High School in Tucker, Georgia, and then started on attending piano as well as singing lessons. In addition, Keri Hison was baptized with the real name of Keri Lynn Hilson. When she was in her teen years, she started her professional career as a songwriter and a vocalist, under the supervision of the producer Anthony Dent. After she failed to be included in the group called the Pretty Toni and D’ Sign, she entered the well known Oxford University in the Atlana, while she still having her music career. On the other hand, Hilson considered the recording artist Janet Jackson as her big influence in her music career.
In year 2001, Keri HIlson started to write music for the other artists, which said to be a part of the five-person production/songwriting team called The Clutch. Hilson was also known for being a song arranger as well as a background singer for several songs she made for the recording artists like Usher, Ludacris and Ciara as well as Kelly Rowland. Some of the songs she has written for the artist like Mary J. Blige and the girl group of Pussycat Dolls and more became a hit singles for all the listeners. On the other, Hilson debuted at the 2004 MTV Music Awards, where she performed a song live together with Xzibit.
In year 2006, Hilson signed as an artist to Timbaland’s record label called, the Mosley Music. On the following year, she made an appearance on the solo effort of Timbaland entitled, Shock Value as well as the singles of Scream and The Way I Are, which landed on the number three spot at the US Billboard Hot 100. In addition, Hilson was also featured in the single of Lost Girls. In March 2009, her debut album called, In a Perfect World, has been released. The album was co-produced by Timbaland together with Polow da Don. Her album took the number four spot on the US Billboard 200 and the number one spot of the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. The lead single of the album entitled, Energy, took the 28th spot on the US Billboard Hot 100 while it landed on the 21 spot on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
Moreover, Keri Hilson appeared as a guest on the charity of her fellow artist Akon called, Oh Africa. She was also featured on the singles of Trina entitled, Million Dollar Girls and the single of T.I called, Got Your Back. In year 2010 it was announced that Hilson will be the newest artist of the Avon, where she replaced the star of Jennifer Hudson. Also, in year 2010, her second album called, No Boys Allowed, has been released. The lead single of the album was produced by Timbaland entitled, Breaking Point. As of year 2011, HIlson is getting ready for a spring tour and is opening for the TLC’s 20th Anniversary celebration concert as well as the beginning work for her third album, featuring TLC, Blaque and more girl groups.
