Kris Humphries appeared on Good Morning America December 9 in his first solo TV appearance ever and his first TV appearance since Kim Kardashian filed for divorce 5 weeks ago.
He appeared with his mother Debra Humphries in a “cookie baking” segment and talked about nothing but basketball. Here are the few insights from the interview. He said Kim and her “sources” could unleash all the gossip, drama, and lies about him that they want; he says he is not going to play dirty like they do. according to Humphries, he thinks that if people know him they know who he is and what he stands for noting that he is a fun guy and he does not play into gossip.
When GMA wondered if the relationship ended because of the pressure of the reality TV cameras, Humphries says he does not know. He said that he could not tell for sure since it is the only time she has been married but he has been in front of cameras on the NBA since he was 19. The show asked if he still loved Kim K, he laughed and said that he focused on just what he can control which is being ready to play ball and supporting his mom and her cookie baking. He also added that through everything he has just focused on family and preparing for basketball noting that basketball is something he take really seriously and he continue to do that. He also said that he is just moving forward.
When asked about his plans for the annulment that have been buzzing around the internet, he dodged the question saying that he is really right now focused on basketball and other things will take care of themselves. According to him, he is excited to be close to playing basketball. In the off season, he said he has been doing a lot of work with his foundation, spending time with his family and working on his game a lot.
On his first public appearance on a press conference announcing his partnership with Sector luxury watches at Trump Soho Hotel in New York City, the 26-year-old Humphries avoided all questions about Kardashian and his divorce but told reporters that it is a difficult time in his life. A difficult time, for sure, but also a good time to make some business deals. Humphries is expected to pocket around $150,000 for his Sector endorsement deal, according to the Daily Mail. According to Humphries, a portion of the sales will go to his foundation which is set up to fight against childhood obesity and it is a really great thing.
Humphries was reportedly blindsided when Kardashian filed for divorce Oct. 31, telling people he learned of her decision via online news outlets. Although there were some reports that Humphries was refusing to call it quits on his marriage — even after Kardashian flew to Minnesota for “closure” — he has reportedly lawyered up and is expected to sign the divorce papers.
