Kristin Scott Thomas is an English actress, who was born o May 24, 1960 in Redruth, Cornwall, to Deborah and Simon Scott Thomas. Thomas has a sister named Serena Scott Thomas, who is also an actress, grew up as a Roman Catholic. She spent most of her childhood in their home in Trent, Dorset, England. After her father died due of flying accident in year 1964, her mother remarried again to another Royal Navy, who also died of flying accident. Six years after her father passed away, Scott Thomas attended the Cheltenham Ladies’ College and the St. Anthony’s Leweston School for Girls in Sherborne, Dorset. After she left the said school, she relocated to Hampstead, London and then worked in a department store. She subsequently started on training to be a drama teacher at the young age of 19, for her to work as an au pair in Paris. At the age of 25, she was included in the casts of the 1986 film of Under the Cherry Moon, which also includes the pop star Prince.
Scott Thomas portrayed one of the lead roles in the 1996 film called, the English Patient. In year 1990s, she appeared together with Hugh Grant in the 1992 film of Bitter Moon and in the romantic comedy film of Four Weddings and a Funeral, where she portrayed the role of Fiona. She then portrayed the role of Lady Sylvia McCordle in the 2001 comedy drama film of Gosford Park. Scott Thomas also appeared both theater and TV in year 2003. On the same year, she was honored an OBE award in the 2003 Queen’s Birthday Honours List. Earlier in year 2007, Scott Thomas portrayed the role of Arkadina in a London West End production of Anton Chekhov’s The Seagull, where she was garnered a Laurence Olivier Award for the category for the Best Actress on March 2008. She then reprised her role in New York on September 2008.
Also, in year 2008, Scott Thomas earned much accolades for her portrayal in the French film of I’ve Loved You So Long, which also includes the BAFTA and the Golden Globe nominations for the award for the category for the Best Actress. In year 2008, she portrayed the role of a creator of a fashion magazine in the film called, Confessions of a Shopaholic. She then starred in the film adaptation of Douglas Kennedy’s book called, The Woman in the Fifth, which was planned to release in year 2010. In year 2011, Scott Thomas portrayed the lead role of Julia Jarmond in a French drama film of Sarah’s Key. Also, in year 2011, it was said that Scott Thomas is set to star in the upcoming film of Bel Ami, where she will be portraying the role of the love interest of the role portrayed by Robert Pattinson. In addition, Scott Thomas is currently starred as Emma in Harold Pinter’s Betrayal at the Comedy Theater in London’s West End.
