Jenny Craig Company announced Mariah Carey as its latest Brand Ambassador and the songstress said that she lost 30 pounds since starting its weight loss and diet program in late July, three months after she gave birth to her twins Moroccan and Monroe Cannon.
The 41-year-old singer showed off her slimmer figure on Tuesday’s episode of “The Rosie Show,” Rosie O’Donnell’s talk show, which airs on Oprah Winfrey’s OWN cable network. She was lowered onto the stage on a crescent moon-shaped prop. Two men in suits then helped her up and escorted her to O’Donnell, who gave her a hug. The singer revealed that her new physique is the result of a strict diet and exercise routine. Carey said that in the beginning when she first had babies she had so much edema, water and swelling noting that most pregnant women have that just in their feet. According to her, she did not think she would ever be the same person. After the twins were born, Mariah went on the Jenny diet plan (formerly Jenny Craig) and she was thrilled with the results. According to the singer, she lost 40 lbs. in the first week noting that it was just water initially. She said that she lost at least 30 lbs. of weight needed to be lost when she started with the program.
Carey and husband Nick Cannon, 31, welcomed son and daughter Moroccan and Monroe in April. Carey, whose height spans 5-foot-9-inches, has not revealed how much weight she gained during her pregnancy. She said in a video interview with OWN personality Gayle King, which was provided by Jenny Craig, that she avoided looking at the numbers of the scale when she was weight at the doctor’s office.
According to the singer, the nurse who was taking her weight when she went for check-ups (during her pregnancy) told her that if she does not want to look she does not have to. She remembered replying that she would not and she knew that it was a number that she never want to see again describing it as huge and enormous
The singer claimed that she never weighed herself noting that people will think that she is a liar but it is true. She added another cliché phrase and said that she is a big boned girl. She said that she was tall and so she always weighs more. She claimed that she would tend to go, does a size dress fit her that she wore three years ago noting that she would go by what she looked like and how she felt.
The singer said three other weight loss and diet companies approached her before speaking to officials at Jenny Craig. She says she hopes to lose more weight on the Jenny Craig program. The magazine features Carey and her post-pregnancy body on the cover of its latest issue. Other celebrities who have served as Jenny Craig spokes models include Alerie Bertinelli, “Star Wars” star Carrie Fisher, who dropped 50 pounds, and actress Sara Rue, who said she lost 50 pounds on the program.
