Martin Freeman is an English actor, who earned much prominence for his portrayal of John in the film of Love Actually as well as in the TV series of The Office. Freeman was born on September 8, 1971 in Aldershot, Hampshire, England and was raised as a Roman Catholic. He entered the Cardinal Newman School, which is a Roman Catholic primary school located in Hersham. In addition, Freeman also entered the Salesian School in the town of Chertsey in Surrey as well as in the Central School of Speech and Drama in London. Freeman has already appeared in at least 18 TV shows and 14 theater productions as well as in various Dario productions. On the other hand, his most notable role was still the role of Tim Canterbury in The Office.
Freeman also appeared in the sitcom called, Hardware. He then appeared in various films, which also includes the 2002 comedy film entitled, Ali G Indahouse, where he portrayed the role of Richard ‘Ricky C’ Cunningham. On the following year, he appeared as John in the romantic comedy film called, Love Actually. He then appeared in more serious and dramatic roles on TV, appearing as Lord Shaftesburry in the drama of Charles II: The Power and The Passion. He also appeared on the first episode of the second series of the TV drama called, This Life. He then starred in the TV series of The Robinsons and also had an appearance in the episode 1 of the sitcom of Black Books. In year 2007, he had an appearance in the comedy film of Hot Fuzz, where he portrayed the role of Rev. Philip Shooter, together with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.
He also appeared in the 2007 film of called, The All Together, where he portrayed the role of Chris Ashworth. On the same year, he appeared in the theatre production of The Last Laugh. Freeman was also featured in the Faith No More’s cover of the hit entitled, I Started a Joke. In addition, Freeman just covered a few shows on the BBC 6 Music. In year 2009, he also starred in the TV series of Boy Meets Girl, where he portrayed the role of Danny reed, together with Rachel Stirling and Paterson Joseph. On the other hand, Freeman also starred in the TV series of Sherlock, portraying the role of Dr. John Watson. The series was said to be the BBC contemporary adaptation of the Sherlock Holmes stories. For his portrayal on the said series, Freeman earned a BAFTA Award for the Best Supporting Actor in year 2011. He then appeared in the romantic comedy film entitled, What’s Your Number, which also includes the stars of Anna Faris and Chris Evans. In addition, Freeman is set to appear in the upcoming film of The Pirates in an Adventure with Scientists and in The Hobbit.
