Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who is an American actress, was born on November 28, 1984 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, to Betty Lou and James Ronald Winstead. When Mary was at the age of five, she together with her family relocated to Sandy, Utah, which is a Salt Lake City suburb. She appeared in the Mountain West Ballet’s version of the well known The Nutcracker. Eager to become a ballerina in year 1996, Winstead attended a Joffrey Ballet summer program in Chicago, Illinois. In addition, Mary Winstead was one of the members of the International Children’s Choir during her formative years.
Winstead also appeared in the Broadway production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. On the other hand, she started her professional career at the young age of thirteen, appearing as a guest star in some of the episodes of the drama series show of CBS entitled, Touched by an Angel as well in the Promised Land. She subsequently portrayed the role of Jessica Bennett in the soap opera series of NBS called, Passions. Winstead also appeared in the series of Wolf Lake and in the TV film of Monster Island in year 2002. She also starred in the live-action film of Sky High.
In year 2006, Winstead appeared in the supernatural horror film of Final Destination 3 as well as in the 2005 film of The Ring Two. On the other hand, Winstead portrayed the role of Heather Lee-Fitzgerald in the 2006 film of Black Christmas, which also includes the star of Crystal Lowe. The film garnered her nomination for the Scream Queen at the Scream Awards I year 2007. On the same year, she appeared in the film called, Bobby, which has been directed by Emilio Estevez. The film also includes the stars of Laurence Fishburne, Ashton Kutcher, Anthony Hopkins and William H. Macy as well as Demi Moore and Sharon Stone. However, Winstead shared most of her scenes with Shia LaBeouf and Brian Geraghty. In addition, she and her co-stars have been nominated for the Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Cast in a Motion Pictures for the category of Best Ensemble Cast.
On the following year, Winstead appeared in the film of Death proof. She then portrayed one of the lead roles in the action film entitled, Live Free or Die Hard. In year 2008, she appeared in the dance film of Make it Happen. She subsequently tarred together with Michael Cera in the adaptation film of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, which has been directed by Edgar Wright. In year 2010, winstead was included in the casts of the upcoming prequel to the film of The Thing, where she is set to portray the lead role. The film is set to hit the big screen on October 14, 2011.on February 2011, it was confirmed that she was picked to portray the role of Mary Todd Lincoln together with Benjamine Walker in the upcoming adaptation film of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. The film is dated to release on 2012.
