Actor Matthew McConaughey and his girlfriend Camila Alves got engaged on Christmas Day after 4 years together and 2 kids.  The 42-year old actor popped the question to his Brazilian girlfriend of five years, shared the happy news with his fans on Twitter and posted a photo of the two kissing on his WhoSay account with the words, “Just asked Camila to marry me, merry Christmas.”

Alves, a model from Brazil, met the Hollywood hunk at a bar in Los Angeles in 2006.  While the couple languished in dating land for a few years, it appears that just a week and a half after the proposal, wedding planning could be well underway.  A source told Life & Style that Camila wants to get married in Brazil with her family all around.  She misses the food and the people there, so she is planning a big beautiful Brazilian wedding.  The source also said that she has been asking Matthew to put a ring on it forever noting that she is so happy and it is like a dream.  Matthew, 42, and Camila, 29, have been together for five years, and have two children together, son Levi, three and daughter, Vida, 23 months.

The actor has previously explained how he wanted Camila to feel secure in their relationship as soon as it became serious by buying new home for them in Austin, Texas, which she could add her personal touches to.  The progression of events seems to mirror McConaughey’s roles- in which he is almost always cast as a romantic-comedy heartbreaker and commitmentphobe- but in March, the actor spoke of permanence and making a home in the men’s magazine Esquire.  He said that before this, he had a super home in the Hollywood Hills that he did by himself – landscaping, detailing pretty much everything.  According to him, since the house is his, they could have gone in there right away and Camila would have agreed and will not change a thing.  However, he thought he found a woman he want to do it with, the woman he want to make a family with, hopefully live their life out together.  The pair lives between Austin in Matthew’s home state of Texas and Malibu, Calif., though McConaughey lived for years in an RV nearby – professing a love for the simple life.

The proposal may have come as a surprise to Camila, who recently revealed that she and her Matthew were in no rush walking down the aisle in the near future.  She told OK magazine that they have got no plans during the time noting that they are good as they are right then.  Matthew McConaughey recently starred in Killer Joe with Emile Hirsch.  The movie also stars Juno Temple, Thomas Haden Church, Gina Gershon, and is directed by Exorcist maestro William Friedkin.  It tells the story of 22-year-old drug dealer Chris (Hirsch) who has to come up with six thousand dollars quick or he’s dead after his mother steals his stash.  Desperate, he turns to Killer Joe, played by McConaughey, when he finds out that his mother’s life insurance policy is worth $50,000.

Matthew McConaughey is an American actor, who is most notable for the portrayal in the 1993 comedy film of Dazed and Confused, was born on November 4, 1969 in Uvalde, Texas, to Mary Kathleen and James Donald McConaughey, a teacher and a gas-station owner. Matthew is the youngest son of the three children. In addition, he has an Irish ancestry and also had a Methodist upbringing. He relocated to Longview, Texas, where he entered the Longview High School. He also lived in the Warnervale, New South Wales Australia, where he became a Rotary exchange student in year 1988. He also entered the College of Communication at the University of Texas at Austin. He also became one of the members of the Delta Tau Delta International Fraternity

In year 1991, he made his start with his acting career in year 1992, when he was featured in various TV commercials. He subsequently included in the casts of the directed comedy film of Richard Linklater entitled, Dazed and Confused in year 1993, where he portrayed the role of David Wooderson. He then appeared in several films like, Angel’s in the Outfield, Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Generation and in the comedy film of Boys on the Side. He also appeared in the TV series called, Unsolved Mysteries. He then portrayed the lead role in the music video if Trisha Yearwood entitled, Walkaway Joe.

On the other hand, Matthew earned his break when he portrayed the role of the lawyer Jake Brigance in the film entitled, A Time to Kill, in year 1996. The film is initially based on the book of the same name. Matthew also starred in the films of Contact, Amistad and in The Newton Boys. He then starred in the film of EDtv and U-571. Matthew subsequently included in the casts of the romantic films of The Wedding planner, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.  He also appeared in the thriller film of Frailty, where he portrayed the role of Adam.

In year 2010, Matthew appeared as himself in the HBO series show of Sex and the City. He then appeared together with Steve Zahn and Penelope Cruz in the 2005 film of Sahara. On the same year, he was crowned as the People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive. On the other hand, Matthew subsequently starred in the romantic film of Failure to Launch, which also includes the star of Sarah Jessica Parker. On the following year, Matthew starred in the drama film entitled, We Are Marshall and in the 2008 film of Tropic Thunder. On the same year, he became the spokesman for the national radio campaign for the advocacy group of called, Beef: It’s What’s For Dinner, where he replaced the American actor, Sam Elliot. In addition, it was announced on June 2010 that he will be collaborating with Mac Hyman to ha a scripted comedy for the FX network.
