Mia Wasikowsa is an Australian actress, who was born on October 14, 1989 in Canberra, to Marzena Wasikowsa and John reid, a photographer and a collagist. At the young age of eight, she and her family relocated to Szczecin, Poland for a year, after her mother was granted to produce a collection of work based on her experience of having immigrated to Australia in year 1974. In addition, Wasikowsa together with her family has already toured the country of France, Germany and Russia. On the other hand, at the young age of nine, Wasikowsa started on training as a ballerina, hoping to be a professional someday. At the age of thirteen, she started to dance the en pointe, training for 35 hours a week. However, her passion on ballet had has vanished because of the pressure she gained to achieve physically perfection ad her growing dissatisfaction. Nevertheless, she was also thankful for being involved to ballet, improving her skills to handle her stress in auditions.

In year 2004, Wasikowsa made her first acting role, appearing in a two-episode stint of the soap called, All Saints. She was also included in the casts of the Australian film of Suburban Mayhem, where she portrayed the role of Lilya. The film garnered her nomination for a young Actor’s AFI Award. On the same year, she appeared in the short film of Lens Love Story. In year 2007, she was also featured in the horror film of Rogue, which also includes the stars of Radha Mitchell and Sam Worthington as well as the drama of September. She subsequently starred in the film called Sarah Jane.

At the young age of 17, Wasikowsa gained her first break in the United Stated, portraying the role of Sophie in the drama of the cable network of HO entitled, Treatment. Wasikowsa also appeared in the biopic film of Amelia. In June 2008, she became the recipient of an Australians in film Breakthrough Award. She then portrayed the role of Pamela Choat in the 2009 Independent film called, That Evening Sun. she was also included in the casts of the 2010 film of Alice in Wonderland, together with the stars of Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter as well as Anne Hathaway. She then portrayed the role of Joni in the comedy film of The Kids Are All Right and on October, she took home the Hollywood Award for the Breakthrough Actress Award.

On the other hand, Wasikowsa recently appeared in the 2011 romantic drama film of Jane Eyre, where he portrayed the role of Jane Eyre. She also appeared in the recently released film of Restless, where she portrayed the role of Annabel Cotton. In addition, Wasikowsa is set to appear in the upcoming film of Albert Nobbs, where she will be portraying the role of Helen. In June 2011, she was invited to join The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
