Michelle Rodriguez is an American actress, who earned much prominence for the portrayal of Leticia Ortiz in the action film entitled, The Fast and the Furious. She was born on July 12, 1978 in San Antonio, Texas, to Carmen Milady and Rafael Rodriguez, a native Dominician Republic and a Puerto Rican. She was baptized with the real name of Mayte Michelle Rodriguez and has ten siblings including her half siblings. At the young age of eight, Rodriguez moved together with her mother to Dominician Republic and then lived in Puerto Rico until she reached the age of eleven, then they settled in Jersey City, New Jersey. On the other hand, Rodriguez left high school but still got her GED. It was said that Rodriguez most entered a business school before she left and pursue her professional career in acting, having the ambition to be a writer and director as well.

On the other hand, after she had an audition, Rodriguez won the spot among the 350 applicants who auditioned for the role in the independent film entitled, Girlfight, in year 2000. The film of Girlfight, was said to be the big break of Rodriguez. In the film, Rodriguez portrayed lead role of Diana Guzman. For her portrayal on the film, Rodriguez earned several nominations as well as the major acting accolades that came from the National Board of Review and from Deauville Film Festival as well as Independent Awards, Gotham and Las Vegas Film Critics Sierra Awards. She subsequently earned a spot in the racing action film of The Fast and the Furious, where she portrayed the role of Leticia Ortiz, together with Paul Walker and Vin Diesel as well as Jordana Brewster. Rodriguez was also included in the casts of the 2002 horror film called, Resident Evil, where she portrayed the role of Rain Ocampo, one of the lead roles, alongside Milla Javovich. On the same year, she appeared together with Kate Bosworth, Sanoe Lake and Mika Boorem in the surfer film entitled, Blue Crush, where she played the role of Eden.

In year 2003, Rodriguez appeared as Chris Sanchez in the action-crime film entitled, S.W.A.T, alongside Samuel Jackson, Colin Farrell and LL Cool J. in year 2004, Rodriguez voiced a role in the video game called, Halo 2. She also voiced the role of Liz Ricario in the cartoon series of IGPX. On the other hand, Rodriguez appeared in the TV series called, Lost, where she portrayed the role of Ana Lucia Cortez from year 2005 until 2006. Also, in year 2006, Rodriguez was featured in the documentary TV show of G4 entitled, Icons. Moreover, Rodriguez was also included in the casts of the 2007 film called, Battle in Seattle, where she portrayed the role of Lou, together with the stars of Charlize Theron and Martin Henderson. She then reprised her role as Leticia Ortiz in the fourth installment of The Fast and the Furious films entitled, Fast & Furious, which has been released on April 2009.

Rodriguez was also starred in the blockbuster-hit film of Avatar, where she portrayed the role of Trudy Chacon. The film also includes the stars of Sam Worthington and Stephen Lang as well as Sigourney Weaver. The film had total earnings of $2,782,275,172, which said to be the highest-earning film in the history. Rodriguez was also includes in the dramatic independent film of Tropico de Sanger, where she portrayed the lead role of Minerva Mirabel. On the other hand, in year 2010, Rodriguez appeared in the action film of Robert Rodriguez entitled, Machete, where she portrayed the role of Luz’She, together with the stars of Danny Trejo and Robert de Niro as well as Jessica Alba. On the same yea, Rodriguez also appeared as herself in one of the episodes of the TV series of Top Gear. In year 2011, Rodriguez portrayed the role of Elena Santos in the war film called, Battle: Los Angeles, which was also known as Battle for Los Angeles. The film also includes the stars of Aaron Eckhart and Ramon Rodriguez. On the same year, Rodriguez reprised her role of Leticia Ortiz on the fifth sequel of The Fast & Furious film, which was entitled to Fast Five also known a Fast & Furious 5 or Fast & Furious: Rio Heist.
