The 74-year-old American actor and film director was born on June 1, 1973 in Memphis, Tennessee, to Mayme Edna and Morgan Poterfield Freeman, a teacher and a barber. Freeman has three older siblings. At the young age of nine, Freeman made his first acting job when he portrayed the lead character in one of their school plays. He subsequently entered the Broad Street High School and then he performed in a radio show which took place in Nashville Tennessee. In year 1995, Freeman finished his studies in Broad Street and it was said that he turned down a drama scholarship from the Jackson State University; instead he chose to work as a mechanic in the United States Air Force.
Freeman relocated in Los Angeles in early 60’s and then worked as a transcript clerk at the Los Angeles Community College. He also lives in the New York City, where he worked as a dancer at the 1964 World’s Fair. He became one of the members of the Opera Ring music group in San Francisco. Freeman was famously known for his role in the soap opera called, Another World and in the PBS kids’ show of The Electric Company. Freeman started on portraying some of his most notable roles in several films. He then landed on much bigger roles like in the comedy drama film of Driving Miss Daisy. He also starred in the films like Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves and Unforgiven as well as in film of Seven and Deep Impact.
On the other hand, freeman garnered an Academy Award for the category for the Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal in the 2004 American sports drama film of Million Dollar Baby in the 77th Academy Awards. In addition, Freeman portrayed the role of God in the film of Bruce Almighty and it sequel film entitled, Evan Almighty. He then portrayed the role of Lucius Fox in the box office hit film of Batman Begins and it 2008 sequel film of The Dark Knight. Freeman also starred in the 2007 film of The Bucket List, together with the star of Jack Nicholson. He starred together with Christopher Walken and William H. Macy in the comedy film of The Maiden Heist. In year 2008, Freeman made his Broadway comeback in the play entitled, The County Girl, which also included Frances McDormand and Peter Gallagher.
Freeman replaced Walter Cronkite as the voiceover introduction to the CBS Evening News, which features Katie Couric as news anchor. Freeman Is currently the host and the narrator of the Discovery Channel TV show entitled, Through the Wormhole. In his personal life, Freeman tied the knot with Jeanette Adair Bradshaw on October 22, 1976 but the two separated in year 1979. He then married Myrna Colley-Lee in year 1984. However, the two ended their marriage in year 2007 and their divorce has been finalized on September 2010.
