The 42-year-old American actor and screenwriter, was born on April 6, 1969 in Passaic, New Jersey, to Gloria and Michael Rudd, a sales manager and a historical tour guide. He was baptized with the real name of Paul Stephen Rudd and his parents, who moved from England, were of Jewish descent. In addition, Paul Rudd underwent in to a ritual called, Bar mitzvah. His family’s original surname is Rudnitzky but it was changed to Rudd by his grandfather. At the young age of ten, he and his family relocated to Overland Park, Kansas, where he was raised. He then entered the Sawnee Mission West for high school and then the University of Kansas for college, where he became one of the members of the fraternity called, Sigma Nu Fraternity. Rudd spent three months for Jacobean drama at the British American Drama Academy, which is initially based in Oxford, in United Kingdom.
On the other hand, Rudd made his breakthrough performance, when he appeared in the film entitled, Clueless, in year 1995. The film turned him into a teen idol. He subsequently appeared in various films such as The Object of My Affection, Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myer, The Cidar House Rules and in the comedy film of Wet Hot American Summer as well as in the adaptation film of William Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet. He was also included in the casts of the American sitcom called, Friends, where he portrayed the role of Mike Hannigan. He also appeared in some Broadway productions like, The Last night of Ballyhoo, Twelfth Night and Three Days of Rain.
Rudd appeared as a guest star on the TV series of Veronica Mars, where he portrayed the role of Desmond Fellows in the episode entitled, Debasement Tapes. In year 2006, Rudd appeared in some of the episodes of the comedy series show of Reno 911!, as Guy Gerricault. He then appeared in the comedy films of The 40-year-old Virgin and in the Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. In year 2007, Rudd starred in the romantic comedy drama film called, Knocked up, where he portrayed the role of Pete. On the same year, he also starred in the indie comedy films of The Oh in Ohio and The Ten, together with the stars of David Wain and Michael Showalter. He also starred in the comedy film of Role Models, together with the star of Seann William Scott.
In year 2009, Rudd portrayed one of the lead roles in the comedy film of I Love You Man, which also stared Jason Segel and Rashida Jones. On the following year, he was included in the casts of the animated film of Monsters Vs. Aliens, where he voiced for the character of Derek Dietl. Also, in year 2010, he was included in the comedy film of Dinner for Schmucks. Rudd is set to appear in the upcoming film of Wanderlast, which is set to release on October 7, 2011.
